labrat did, he's on mewe in the kava group. he handed the reigns to intrepidux. she sells instant, and it's good, but not dehydrated juice like GHK, it's aways aways from micronizing.

puuohoku has fresh root with ice packs, totally fresh.

gourmet hawaiian is dehydrated hawaiian awa (kava) juice.

labrat says there is no comparison, fresh root is the way to go!

i wonder why kava (awa [ah-vah]in hawaiian,) tastes so damn bad. i bet fresh pu'uohoku shoots the moon over dehydrated (GHK) (and labrat has confirmed this).

You can’t get it? They ship as far as I can tell. Let’s hope anyway. Otherwise I might not be getting it either.

I have to say, there is no doubt the fresh root tastes much better than dehydrated (I have most experience with GHK Moi). It has a fairly distinct cucumber taste and does not taste as overpowering as the dehydrated or instant.

I ordered the 5 half pound bag variety pack, which was 2 bags of hiwa, 2 moi, and one other that I'm blanking on right now. Shipped to CA and was still frozen when it got here.

Effects were nice. I'm not very good at reviewing, but I would say the moi was a very clean and uplifting one for me. I had a few shells in the morning and felt like it was a great start to my day and did not have any adverse effects after it wore off around noon. GHK's dehydrated and instant product is very solid and produces similar effects but can't compare in the taste department.

@indelibleDotInk (or anyone else for that matter), Have you ever seen these? https://www.karunakava.com/shop/awesomeawa
They make kava juice pouches and use other juices to make it taste like a good drink. The specific one in the link is made from the fresh frozen Pu'u O Hoku ranch Moi Awa. I know it's not the same as trying the fresh frozen straight up, but it is the same awa and should taste even better! I'm going to give it a try.

Hey! Sorry it took me a minute to see this. I tried it. Grabbed the Awesome Awa. The pouches need to be refrigerated and they’re super convenient since you don’t have to prep (adult capri suns!). Effects are similar to the same fresh frozen moi awa that it’s made from, but I would say slightly more mild. I imagine that’s because of the amount used in the pouches compared to what I would prepare for myself from the straight up fresh root. These are awesome for anyone averse to kava taste because they were pretty tasty in my opinion. Two pouches seemed to do the trick for me. I won’t buy frequently because of the cost but they are nice to have.

Fresh kava actually tastes good — almost like some types of green tea.

That being said, to me it isn’t worth the increased price and increased hassle to acquire/brew. I didn’t notice any substantive difference in effects (adjusted for relative potency — frozen is a lot weaker per weight).

Absolutely worth trying if you’re into kava and won’t miss the money. Not regularly worth it though if you’re a middle-class daily kava drinker.
