A bit disappointed by Botanical Bunny (tried 4 strains)
So after reading the amazing reviews of BB, as well as seeing the super low prices (compared to other vendors) I was really excited to try them! I read that they stock some real high quality strains for cheap. Now Im not saying any of the strains are bad, they were decent, but I guess I was expecting a little more? They all seem to be a bit short-lasting in terms of effects, with me requiring to redose every 3 hours. Now I am not the most experienced kratom user, and the only comparison I have is with Happy Hippo Herbals, which is a lot more expensive but their strains seem to be of higher quality, as I take less, and feel the effects more.
White MD Jong Kong batch 1811 - 7/10. Feels like a moderate strain, decent energy, decent euphoria, but short lasting.
Red Maeng Da batch 1811 - 5/10. Did not like this strain at all, not much energy, a bit sedative, a bit of a body glow. But lacking that enjoyable euphoria & happiness that other strains give.
Premium MD batch 2004 - 7/10. Decent energy, a bit more motivated to be productive. Slight mood increase.
Plantation batch 2005 - 7/10. This felt the same as the Premium MD.
I guess overall for the price the quality is good, but was just expecting a bit more from the glowing reviews here. If anyone else has any other vendor recommendations, please share. I am willing to pay a premium for quality.

how many times did you try them? sometimes it takes a few times before it really starts to work, in my experience anywaykraton_dev wrote:So after reading the amazing reviews of BB, as well as seeing the super low prices (compared to other vendors) I was really excited to try them! By no means am I praising HH, I think they are a rip off selling at 4x what other vendors sell. I would not buy from them again. I'm just a bit disappointed that the strains from BB aren't as potent as what I've tried from HH.BallzDeep9 wrote:Experience counts.kraton_dev wrote:Now I am not the most experienced kratom user, and the only comparison I have is with Happy Hippo Herbals, which is a lot more expensive ...Anonymous hit reviews like this really mean nothing, U have a right to your opinion, but read 3+ years of Reddit and here dozens & dozens of ppl laugh at "happy hippo", its not a good reputation - And, the dude doesn't even import his own kratom ? He buys from a U.S. wholesaler.. so happy hippo does not sell, his own kratom - HH is selling a website. With cute funny animals.

OK OK, Botanical Bunny also has a funny animal. but also 3+ years of GREAT reviews here and on Reddit!!

Re: A bit disappointed by Botanical Bunny (tried 4 strains)
well I'm sure HH does sell real kratom, maybe he did sell U a good batch? All these vendors get batches, not "strains". I got some Red Bali from BB last year, was a very dark oxidized bent Red, that seemed weak to me.. But usually his PMD's are top notch. Like U said, glowing reviews .. Both vendors get better or worse batches.kraton_dev wrote: I'm just a bit disappointed that the strains from BB aren't as potent as what I've tried from HH.
yeah most people compare price.. and stop right there lol

Re: A bit disappointed by Botanical Bunny (tried 4 strains)
I actually have quite a bit of BB kratom going back as far as 2018. I don't think I got any in 2017. Some of it works for me, some of it doesn't. I've gotten a couple very good batches from them though.

The problem is you bought stuff from the 1811 batch. That's all. I thought the PMD from #2004 was good, but the plantation stuff is grown on a farm with younger trees and usually not super good.

Botanical Bunny hits hardest out of my current plain leaf stack, but I concur that the effects are extremely short lived. It’s why I mix with a little extract, then it lasts all day.Spencemastaflex wrote:The problem is you bought stuff from the 1811 batch. That's all. And yes he needs to just remove the 1811 strains. A lot of new people are interested in him and buying them not knowing what they are(me last week lol). But I guess he can’t take that hit or something idk. He’s a great guy though really

Yeah he's definitely a great guy I've seen him make a lot of sales right when people were disappointed. Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with the 1811 strains, I think he should pull them off the shelf but that's a pretty big dent in his inventory

This seems to be an appropriate review for BB. They sell mostly above average stuff. I’ve always been an advocate of theirs. Packaging, extras, shipping, price, service, consistency, and quality are all great. Always. But there’s a few people here who will attack and insult and bully and gaslight anyone who doesn’t agree that every strain they sell is 10/10 certified fire (main reason I don’t visit here much anymore - too toxic and not enjoyable), and they do it with a few other vendors as well. A 10 from BB is rare for me if I’ve had any at all. Can’t remember.kraton_dev wrote:So after reading the amazing reviews of BB, as well as seeing the super low prices (compared to other vendors) I was really excited to try them! I’ve since moved on to a few vendors I’ve found that have more leaf that hits me better, but I’ll always recommend BB. I wouldn’t tell anyone to expect the hardest hitting stuff from them, but it’s all above average - as you experienced. A lot of their stuff tends to be more on the benty side. So if that’s not your thing, you might want to look elsewhere. But you’re right to note that reviews here are a bit misleading, imo.

Exactly everything was great, packaging, shipping, ease of shopping. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to get started with Kratom. I guess I am on a hunt for the absolute HIGHEST quality. I am on a search for the best, just got a shipment from Fused Flora so excited to give it a try.trigger wrote:This seems to be an appropriate review for BB. They sell mostly above average stuff. Re: A bit disappointed by Botanical Bunny (tried 4 strains)
This is pretty on par with my experience, over all. And is actually why I like BB for my personal needs. I love benty and subtle batches for when I have migraines and significant pain, bc they are the only ones I can take when I’m really, really hurting. My more intense, euphoric, energizing, or stimulating batches (that I adore normally) will make my migraines much worse. However, high quality bents actually help me. So, I really appreciate vendors and batches that get me through my tougher days. But, my favorite everyday batches typically come from other vendors, like TFH, MM, Sosa, etc.trigger wrote: I’ve since moved on to a few vendors I’ve found that have more leaf that hits me better, but I’ll always recommend BB. Re: A bit disappointed by Botanical Bunny (tried 4 strains)
I'm gonna be mister unpopular and say, last year I did legitimately go through the entire Hippo catalogue- ounce by ounce via weekly sale. My experience was actually great in a number of senses. -- not a single shipping delay, hiccup or hang up -- great customer service -- BUT a lot of misses. That said, I will always argue that in 2019 they had some fabulous batches of Yellow Sunda, Red Sumatra and Yellow Sumatra.
Granted now, that is 3 out of like 20 or so strains. Soooo not the best odds. I'd still take them over plenty of other large commercial vendors if we are talking strictly about quality though.
Botanical Bunny, oddly enough was the outfit that convinced me superb things come with reasonable price tags. Honestly quite the game changer, swaying me to explore Fused Flora and Mitra Man next and falling in love all over again. There are definitely tiers, or grades and ranks that are somewhat undeniable when it comes to the leaf and there is a distinct reason certain names get circulated so well around here- they absolutely deserve the merit.
BB has had some real home runs in recent history. That isn't to say there aren't weaker offerings in the bunch though, that I agree with (PMD 1811)
Try some other operations tossed around in the review forum and you'll be singing someone's praise soon enough, OP

For what's it worth, I feel very similar to you. In my mind Happy Hippo is targeting a different consumer - more casual user who values all they offer. Price difference is not that significant if you're using say 10 grams per week (that was me for my first year using kratom).kraton_dev wrote:trigger wrote:kraton_dev wrote: Exactly everything was great, packaging, shipping, ease of shopping. Recently I started using kratom more regularly and am looking for a lower cost high quality option. I haven't yet but recently discovered this forum and am hoping to find one soon. I have an order from Fused Flora coming as well.
I don't think there is anything wrong with different vendors serving different parts of the market.

Sure, nothing wrong in theory with taking advantage of ignorant folks ? Free Market 101 right?
That's the opposite of a Free Market.. it's more like an organized crime cartel

I’ve never had any luck with BB. I’ve tried many strains, all different times of the years. Literally could just be my body makeup. I gave up trying, with all that said, I know lots of people who speak very highly of BB. BB does everything right as far as customer service ect... is what it is. Maybe one day I will try again

The recent Dayak strains were not as great for me as usual but BB has been my go to for a few years. Very consistent quality and reasonable prices. Whoever else I try I add BB into the mix and only a few have not hit here and there.

Botanical Bunny is very good leaf, but it is sometimes hit or miss with me. Most consistent vendors that always knock my socks off are Lucky Herbals - (Green Maeng Da, Green Hulu, Green Bali, AKA the Holy Trinity) Sosa - Reds and Greens but his reds are the best reds out there imo (Red Sunda, Red Sumatra, Baik Bali, Super Green, Agus Green bone F-18 and F-16, Green Horn, Wild Entikong), and Fused Flora - Super Green Borneo, Green Kapuas, Wild Red Kapuas, and White, Green, and Red Takengon, and by no means are these the only good options but just a few suggestions. Happy hunting, and stay the fuck away from Happy Hippo lol.

I don't think there is anything wrong with different vendors serving different parts of the market.. definitely DO target the n00bs market.. why? Cuz that's where the MONEY is!! These vendors are profiteers #1. Kratom is the highest profit margin of any business/ product these days.
Sure, nothing wrong in theory with taking advantage of ignorant folks ? Free Market 101 right?Well, that's OK I guess, until they take action to CONTROL the market.. Which it seems the AKA is trying to do, with their KCPA "Consumer Protection" Regulation. All of these vendors, are now banding together in effort to: 1- Push artificial high prices, and 2- Eliminate competition, by threatening legal action against independent, online vendors who cut their price in half.
That's the opposite of a Free Market.. it's more like an organized crime cartel- AKA vendors, must realize the kratom market has grown, and regular consumers/ "Fans" of this supplement.. Are also well informed, and seek the highest quality product... Which is a small batch, wild crafted herb. NOT- the mass produced plantation bunk sold in 20-Ton lots and used to make VivaZen extract.
I'm giving you a 'sitting' ovation

I have a ton of BB leaf (literally, possibly
) and there are some strains I love and then there are some that do absolutely nothing for me. It is probably my body chemistry- because some of those that did nothing for me were raved about on Double M.
And the shoe fits me too - I’m sure I’ve raved on some BB batches and everyone else was probably like “WTF?”. The fact is that most people find some real gems from BB even if they get some that don’t work for them along with those gems. My 12-18 Wild Green, 6-18 Green OV, and 11-18 Green JK are some of my favorite greens from any vendor. The 7-19 Green JK was not far behind them. I haven’t found a lot of reds that work for me from BB, but there are a few really good ones.

Same here! seriously rocks and is among my top five EVER favorite Greens! I wish I had grabbed more!
The 12-18 Wild Green didn't do much the first few times so I threw it in K-bin and tried it again
a couple of months later...WowZer...and it's even better blended with the Wild White from that
time period.
The only one that didn't do a lot for me was the Verde but that one has had some rave
reviews here on DoubleM so...c'est la vie! Over all BB's Greens are excellent and his Whites
aren't bad either! I haven't had many of BB's Reds, but those that I've tried were just
average...well, except for BB's Chocolate Jong Kong from that period! Love that stuff! It's
great for bedtime! I still have a load of BB's leaf from summer 2019 that I haven't even opened
and I mean a LOAD:roll:...and I'm sure I'll be snagging more of his stuff sometime in the
future...as if I really need it!

I still have Green JongKong batch 1908 and Wild Green Batch 1909 that is some of the best green I have had, most of BB's greens work for me but i have no luck with the Reds.
Just ordered some Green JongKong batch 2005 and Green Red Vein batch 2005 that was just very positively sampled by a MM Member - am confident it will be good leaf.

Curious how FF compares for you. I haven’t tried them yet.kraton_dev wrote:Exactly everything was great, packaging, shipping, ease of shopping.

I bought a selection of BB's stuff 2 years ago & everything were duds for me. Frankly, I was surprised considering all the kudos they get on here. And then, of course, comes all the blah-blah about I'm doing something wrong. My favorite kratom kicks in wonderfully at 1g & it's been consistent for 4 years. And thank you for speaking up, those who had similar experiences as me. So it's not because "you're doing something wrong". And BTW, though I know everyone is tired of hearing this, TFH reds really do it for me, at least Heavy Red & Red Hulu. I'm glad I stocked up on those.

I picked up the Gold lot 12, Red Maeng Da 1811 lot 12, and Gold MD lot 12. I loved the Gold MD - I was only able to get a 125 of that and it was gone within a week. I’m still working on the other two, and they are both really good for me. I’d rate them at an 8/10. Everyone reacts differently to different leaf. I just thought I’d throw this review up for anyone on the fence. Botanical Bunny sells good kratom in my opinion. And I love the ginger chews!
