Happy Hippo Strain Thoughts

Has anyone here tried Happy Hippo's kratom? I'm hardcore debating whether or not I'm going to get some. I've read many people seem to like them but I've not seen any particular strains and/or effects shared from anyone. Any recommendations on strains or any overall impressions of this vendor? The price is normally out of my comfort range but if their product is better than what I've been getting, I would definitely give them a shot. Any thoughts?

I've been a fan of the leaf for around 10 years. For quite a while I paid "top dollar" for leaf that I assumed
was better than the less expensive stuff. Over the last few years I've found that to be a complete fallacy.
After paying upwards of 45-50 dollars for 250 gram packets I finally broke down and tried leaf from
vendors that priced theirs at almost half the price (or a little less when you went for a split kilo!) and wOw,
the more reasonably priced leaf was every bit as good, if not better than the high priced stuff! I'm sure that
Hippo's stuff is probably okay, but why spend so much when there's product every bit as good for much less???
Do the research here on DoubleM and I'm sure you'll save some bucks! These folks know there stuff!

Slapjack - I've been a lurker myself for quite a while now my damned self but just recently realized I love talking about this plant because I'm so passionate about it. I love the exchange of information swapped around here and just couldn't stop myself from participating. InstantKARMA- thanks for the heads up on your own personal experience with more expensive leaf( though I want to ask if you've experienced Happy Hippo's product exclusively?). I found someone through a swap/sell website where someone buys Happy Hippo product in mad bulk and the owner of HH gives this person a helluva discount and they turn around and pass this discount onto the consumer and local headshops. However, even with the discount its still double the price I normally pay for 250g bags ($35 max normally) and they're wanting about $60 for 112g of HH priduct which is still considerably cheaper than the prices HH is offering on their website. If you guys know from first-hand experience that Happy Hippo's product is no better than say Smileys or Herbal Salvations then I'm convinced that I should just stick with these guys and places like KOG and Herbal RVA, right?

Sadly, I haven't tried Happy Hippo's product but I can vouch for Smiley's, Botanical Bunny, Herbal-RVA, Kraydo, Liza's, and now...SOSA! I've also had very good luck with Mystic, though a few others have voiced complaints, their leaf has been "very, very good to me!" I feel like I've wasted mucho hundreds of dollars buying leaf for $45-50/250g from vendors in the past, i.e. Kraoma, Kwik and several others...and DAMN, honestly, I've gotten better leaf for less than half that price. Don't get me wrong, I had good leaf from those guys, but the prices were crazy! I have a ton of leaf (at least 121 strains from different vendors at the moment) and I've enjoyed most of what I've gotten from the aforementioned vendors and a few others. If HH gave a healthy discount, or someone had their leaf at a reasonable price, I'd be more than willing to give HH a try, but one look at their prices immediately puts me off every single time. I'm on their mailing list, but even when they offer discounts, they aren't nearly enough to entice me. 35 bucks for a quarter kilo is just about my limit though I can well afford to pay more! I could be enticed to pay more but only if people of experience made a recommendation for some really STELLAR leaf! But hey, that's just me. You can take a chance and you may get some remarkable leaf, or not! It's a roll of the dice!

Hi there just go to the topic WHO WAS YOUR FIRST, ,,lots of Happy hippo use to bees,,I used them after head shop stuff,,then I found much better,,,they are great for newbies,,makes it easy to find what you need,cute little setup,hippo named puddles as a mascot, cookies,,but I know I found much better product with kog,lizas,smileytime, ,those happen to be my favorites,,I still have a few happy hippo packages stored away,, I didn't use it after I seen how it couldn't compete with the other vendors, ,there's a difference my friend,

Recently I have tried Original Harvest, PA Botanicals, Hawksbill Botanicals, Liza's, Herbaldom, Smiley Time, Happy Hippo and Sosa. Had great customer service with every one of them, I'm not great on these payment processes etc. I would say PA, Hawksbill and Herbaldom seemed the same. Happy Hippo is one of my top favorites, I got a sampler of Pleasant Green Hippo, Magic Hippo, Top Shelf Bali, Sky Hippo, Rockstar Hippo, Sunshine Hippo and Hyper Hippo. I have not tried the Top Shelf Bali or the Green Hippo (not a green fan, and I have A LOT of it from all the sampler packs), but the rest are my go-to right now.

I have only tried the Sosa a couple times and so far so good, but too soon to make a call.
Original Harvest was my first buy and it was very good for a newbie.
I love Liza's Golden Tulip and the Happy Go Lucky.

Also I noticed I may have a little problem buying sample packs of kratom

I want to try EC Botanicals, Canopy and Herbal RVA.

Happy Hippo was my go to vendor when I first started. They had great leaf however don’t waste your money. There prices should be illegal. I kick myself every time I think about how much I spent with them. It wasn’t good enough to pay 200% more. Try SoCal, BB, or Smiley. Better prices and equal quality if not better. With that being said the “Rockstar Hippo” was one of the best whites I ever had. Hope this helps.

I agree HH was one of my first vendors months ago...I spent a few hundred dollars getting ounces...only a couple stood out...ive found much better product and for cheaper from Sosa, smiley, KOG and Liza

I spent a lot of money when I first started with happy hippo! Grrrr. I kick myself sometimes! I’ll just say this, Herbal Rva is everybit as good if not better than happy hippo. Kinda of angers me they charge as much as they do and get away with it because people don’t know any better! There are many vendors in the top 40 that Ballz makes up for us who have better and cheaper prices! If you want the best Kratom try KOG! My opinion ofcourse.

NO cryin' over spilled milk! In kratom, we all Live and Learn.. I was buying head-shop crap 3 years ago. Most kratom is good.. so its all marketing BS. HH just has a very cute snazzy website, you fell for it, they snagged your wallet.. Oh well. I've done some web design, they really did create a nice Logo and site. Imagine the profit they're making! At those prices...

BUT anyone who STILL buys that BS.. is a proven idiot. Good ole' American capitalism.. Take advantage of ignorant folks, Rip em' off and smile! "Oh I just love their cute little Hippo".. and, lets face it. Some folks just flaunt their excess money.

HH at 0.46 PPG, is still not the worst.. There's a bunch over .50 cents. Choice Botanicals, Coastline, Kratom-K, Red Devil, several more.. ALL have very slick, professional, websites designed to attract idiots and rip their credit cards.

Remember... Kratom IS the #1 Money Making Ripoff on the Internet!

It depends on what kind of color you're into...I order primarily reds, yellows, and gold. I can recommend from within this set, and I love the vendor but only purchase when they are having a big sale.

I've been ordering from them since last summer and have no complaints. Everything I ordered so far this year (Slow mo, Rockstar, Dynamite, Red Dragon, Snuggie) has been good or great. My PPG this year is around $0.28.

I've also tried Mystic, Smiley Time, Liza's, and Herbal RVA. They're all less expensive and some have very good Kratom, but it may take a bit more sampling to find something that you really like.

I used to order from them, they have some really good stuff thats for sure but iits a bit pricey though. I used to order from them because i found a weak link in their site that gave me 20 dollars off instead of 20 percent off when i used the code 20OFF so i could just order 21 dollars worth of kratom and get 20 dollars off so i only paid shipping which was cool. I got greedy and then paid by bitcoin to get an additional discount but he then realized it since the funds are directly deposited into his account which he then noticed such a small deposit and must have wondered how someone made an order that small. But they do have some top of the line stuff but so does everyone else. Its not like he gets it from some special farmer that only supplies him ya know. All this stuff comes from the same area, and i would guess the good stuff comes from the same places. Ever notice how sites with good stuff seem to have the same strains for some reason, probably because they all get from the same suppliers overseas, or the suppliers get their product from the same farmers and redistribute to the usa

haha man that's such a cool story Right, they often use high risk, offshore, processors who sell "services" to porno, gambling, weed, and kratom shops. Its a huge business. HH prob doing so many transactions, he's made a killing anyway so not even looking at small $20 items. Monthly payouts are a problem, the exact same story, happening right NOW to many kratom vendors.. except the company pulled an exit scam then got busted on a Federal warrant for fraud. Kratom vendors who used this high risk processor.. May have lost a ton of money. I'll make a new post.

I have ordered from them.

I sign up for their emails which will tell you the sales. They usually do two a week. Their prices dont bother me because their stuff is good and consistant. Shipping is lightning fast. Do i like some other vendors better, yes. Are most cheaper, yes. But i love HH peoducts on hand cuz they ALWAYS work. I have two friends that only order from them repeatedly, the Thunder. I have to say, Thunder, seriously reminds me of good party supplies from back in the day if you catch my drift lol

Here's my HH encounter... a few years ago, before finding Reddit and then ultimately ending up here, I found a kratom forum and signed up. I had ordered from one vendor a couple times and also bought in a head shop near me at the time. I read the rules of the forum and kept my head down for awhile. They had a list of approved vendors, and HH was one of them. I searched around for my vendor and couldn't find them. I also noticed that the prices on their vendor lists were like double or more of what I had been paying. So I asked about the pricing and didn't mention the vendor I used by name.

I was almost immediately blocked from posting, my post was deleted, and there was a message from the moderator in my inbox. The message said I wasn't allowed to talk about other vendors besides the handful they listed, and that I was blocked from posting for 24 hours or something. I said, okay, but asked why I wasn't allowed to talk or ask about vendors besides theirs even if I didn't use names. She just kinda scolded me again and told me to follow the rules. I asked if the forum had some sort of deal going with these vendors or if one of the vendors owned the forum, and she just straight-up perma-banned me. Not just my user account, but also my IP address.

Shortly after this, I found reddit, and discovered my vendor was twice as expensive as what smart people were paying... this meant that these vendors were 4x as expensive. Anyway - since then, I have associated HH with this experience, so I wouldn't order from them. At their prices, their leaf should come hand-delivered with blowjobs. Also, the fact they use comic sans and childish drawings of hippos instead of photos of their product would disqualify them if I didn't already have enough reason.

I tried a new one the other day (Red Hot Hippo) and was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't pay those prices again, but I'm glad I'll at least be able to use them. I still have "smiley Horned", "Happy Hippo II", and "Yellow Viet Dong". The Red Hot was on par with a lot of the decent strains from good vendors, again, it's just the price is ridiculous. Curious if anyone has experience with these since I have a few oz of them.

I tried the red horned hippo and it felt the most opiate like out of any I’ve had recently which was an even better surprise! I would actually get it again if it wasn’t 5X more expensive! Not 5X better! lol

Exactly. Sorry, my bad for not being clear.

The majority of what I sampled earlier in the year was average (or poor). And it occurred to me that a low PPG may not be that great of a deal if I only liked a fraction of what I bought. The first new vendor I ordered from this year had a $0.12 PPG overall, but it was closer to a buck a gram for what I thought was good (and the PPG for what I thought was great was infinite ).

On the bright side my hit to miss ratio is rapidly improving. Maybe by summer there'll be nothing but fire .

I really like the Sky Hippo, Hyper Hippo and Sunshine Hippo. The faster strains were balanced and I felt energized, slightly euphoric with no anxiety (I dose low, 2-2.5g/day). The Sunshine is a nice mellow gold, relaxed but not sleepy. I got the sampler pack and I think it def was worth a try because I've gotten some not so great stuff from other vendors.

I’ve had similar quality in terms of effects but nothing compares to how easy it is to T&W with this HH stuff. Anyone know another vendor that has great effects along with really fine powder? The price is just so high!! I can’t get over how expensive it is.

I would say SOSA!!! They have had the best quality physical powder that I have seen as far as color, freshness, and fine grind. But that's my opinion based off the five or six vendors I have tried over the past year...

Weird you say that. Sosas grind is very coarse to me compared to KOG which is almost like flour. Nothing wrong with coarse but I definitely didnt find it to be fine.

Can you tell me more about Original Harvest? They are in my home State, and I was curious about them because I've never seen them talked about, but they have a really legit and pro looking site. They also openly and freely talk about kratom effects and claim to be the only vendor that does lab testing on everything. Their prices are completely ridiculous - 115 bucks for 8oz - but I'm still pretty curious.

Welcome! Happy to see that you've found something you like. Stick around and you will eventually discover vendors that offer as good or much better quality kratom for a fraction of the price you pay at HH. $260 for a kilo?? $52 for 100g?? That is price gouging in my opinion but whatever works for you. Best of luck.
