Texas Family Harvest reviews (the relaxed guy)
Posted: Sat Nov 02, 2019 3:28 pm
So I was one of the fortunate people to be able to test some of Texas Family Harvest’s strains. Due to a little confusion on my end with the mailing address, I am a bit late here, but I have now received my package and will begin review the strains as I try them.
I will update this post as I try each one.
Strain #1:
Red Jungle MD - AS23
Dosage: ~4g, maybe a tad more
A very strong sedating red. Strong pain relief and anxiolysis. Euphoria was present early in the burn - I felt a sudden urge to call someone and chit chat once I felt it kick in - yet the sedation ultimately prevailed over the euphoria as time passed. Within an hour I was feeling quite tired... I really wanted to go to bed. I certainly underestimated the potency of this strain, having taken it in the morning. Fortunately it was a Saturday.
This sedation eased itself into a very peaceful, relaxed state which persisted well into the afternoon.
For the purpose a red classically serves - sedation and pain relief - I rate this at a 8/10. Very potent, great sedation, strong anxiolysis. One of the few kratom strains I would actually recommend against taking before driving. I found myself nodding, which is something I’ve never experienced from kratom - literally ever in my four years of daily use.
Now as far as my own personal preference, I’ve never been a fan of sedating reds. To me, sedating kratom sorta defeats the best part of taking kratom (the mood boost!). But that’s just my own preference. If you’re looking for a sedating red, this is totally up your alley.
**update**
So I just experimented with a low, 2.2g dose of this strain. Its effect profile was drastically different. I am currently experiencing some fantastic euphoria and mood boost - it almost feels like a mid-fast red. Just goes to show, you really need to try a strain multiple times to get a good idea of how it works. Because different dose sizes, at different times of day, can really change it’s effects.
After trying a lower dose, I now rate this strain at a 9.5/10. I would consider it to be my second favorite, behind only the 30 year wild TFH. At 4.5g, it was definitely very sedating.
Strain #2:
“Yellow Aceh - KG24”
Dosage: 3.3g
A very solid, classic “kratom burn”. Just all the good things you’d expect from kratom, crammed into one strain. Great pain relief without that background sedation creeping up on you.
It’s hard to pinpoint any strengths or weakness because it’s good everywhere. The pain relief and anxiety relief are excellent, but it also gives a good motivation boost. It’s really one of the more multi-functional strains I’ve tried in a long time.
Being said, as the burn progressed, it certainly seemed to become more on the sedating side. I would recommend this strain for early evening use - a solid moost boost, but long lasting and relaxing. Overall, this is a high quality strain with good pain relief and long lasting effects.
Going by the classic 10 point system, I would rate this at a 8/10.
Strain #3:
Wild Red Sumpur - M5
Dosage: above level teaspoon (probably around 3.5g)
Okay this one was really good. Preferred it strongly over the other red, which I found to be a bit slow and sedating for my taste. This one was very anxiolytic, but not in a sedating way, if you know what I mean. There was a pleasant warm fuzzy feeling, and strong mood boost. Very potent and I would say that it could be used during the day. This is what a red is supposed to be.
9/10
Strain #4:
Wild White Vietnam - A13
Dosage: 3g
[updated after trying a second time, this time a 5g dose first thing in the morning]
A true, potent white. Everything you want out of a white - motivation, energy, talkativeness, mood boost. This is one of the best whites I have ever had. Literally, there is nothing bad about this strain. Super potent and motivating, and even the pain relief and anxiolysis are there (which is rare for motivating whites).
Even as you increase the dosage, the positive effects only seem to increase as well. 5g is a very high dose for me - I almost always take doses in the 3.3g area. But, being that I’m supposed to be testing these strains, I figured I’d do some experimentation. And wow, increasing the dose brought none of the classic negative effects. I truly feel wonderful.
Overall rating 9/10
(Sheesh, I feel like these are all rating too highly?! But these are honest ratings. I swear. These are all just that good).
Strain #5:
30 Year Wild Green IR-3
Dose: 2.7g, plus 1.5g redose an hour later
A mid-slow green with great pain relief. I would say the best characteristics of this burn was the pain relief and anxiolysis. Physically a very comforting strain - I was able to sit back after a long day and melt into my chair. All tension and pain gone. This made the strain somewhat sedating - but not in a forceful way.
Now, the mood boost, motivation, talkativeness, etc. were not as strong with this strain. They were there - but not on the same level as the other strains I have tested. For this reason, I rate it a bit lower than the others. Nonetheless, if this strain showed up in a split kilo from most of my usual vendors, it would stand out as exceptional.
Sidenote: Just like all the other strains I’ve experimented with, increasing the dose with did not cause negative side effects.
Sidenote #2: Somewhat bitter taste
Rating: 7.5/10
Strain #6:
30 Year Wild TFH - IR14
3.7g (plus 2g redose an hour later because it was so good)
So, I went a little crazy with this one. Again, I’m pushing my doses a bit, for the sake of experimentation. I believe a sign of a good strain, is that you can increase your dose from your usual amount, without suffering negative side effects. And that’s exactly how this Wild TFH works. Even as I approached a total of 6g which is a huge dose for me, I never got any wobbles or headsches.
The initial 3g effected me as follows. A strong mood boost hit me about 20 minutes after dosing. Almost caught me off guard... I was getting ready to sit back and watch some UFC fights, but I ended up with more euphoria than I knew what to do with. I had to take a walk and call someone. Such a clear-headed feeling. I was relaxed and pain free - anxiolysis and pain relief both get 10/10s - but I was also so motivated. The sheer euphoria was stimulating in and of itself.
The effects were so pure, and so clean, I felt compelled to try more. I took another 2g, and no negative side effects occured, the burn simply became a bit more on the relaxing, slow side.
Very multifunctional strain. The lower dose had me super happy and giddy, and the higher dose had me ready for bed. Can’t imagine a situation in life that this wouldn’t go well with.
Overall rating 10/10
Strain #7:
Chocolate Bentuangie A-2
(Putting this one off because I don’t like bents lol. I’ll try it later today)
Update 2/6/20 (like 2 months later lol)
I did eventually try the chocolate bent, but forgot to review it at the time. But what I can say is this: Bentuangie kratom has never done anything for me. I don’t entirely understand what it’s purpose is, or how it’s effects are intended to differ from normal kratom. I do know that it’s effects ARE supposed to be different, and that it’s due to something in the drying process.
But whatever the case, they’ve never done anything for me, and this one was no different. Perhaps someone who appreciates Bentuangie strains would be able to recognize how TFH’s selection differs from other selections (and I’m sure it does). But whatever the case may be, I’m not a Bentuangie guy, so I won’t review this one.
Overall thoughts so far:
So, what can I say? The hype is real. These strains are all superior. The customer service is fantastic, and you just get a very good vibe from them. “For connoisseurs by Connoisseurs”, gotta love it.
You truly feel that the #1 concern of TFH is the quality of their product. I mean literally... they are actively refusing customers to ensure that they have enough quality kratom for their members. Who does that? And it’s clearly paying off... you don’t do a free sample test like this unless you know you have fire kratom. Look at what every tester has said so far... we’re blown away.
A couple of these strains are among the best I’ve ever tried. The wild TFH, and the white vietnam were both amazing, and all the others were well above average as well.
I will update this post as I try each one.
