Garuda - "Sirin Blend" review

Post by KrateAndVape »

*This is my personal experience with, my opinion of and how I've been affected by this particular blend and this vendor. Your experience may vary. No two people react exactly the same way to Kratom. Remember to find your optimal dose. My "normal dose" may not be yours.*

Instead of rating on a scale of 1 to 10, I'll be logging how this strain affected me as either "not noticeable", "barely noticeable", "noticeable", "very noticeable" or "extremely noticeable" in five categories.

The main reason I want to review this blend is because I couldn't find any information about it online. On Garuda's website they state "Due to it being a trade secret, we cannot disclose which strains are included in this blend, sorry!". Most vendors will at least tell you the colors of the strains used. Some will tell you the entire "recipe" complete with percentages. I, of course, don't expect that, but at least give me a clue of what I might expect by telling me what vein colors are used in this blend. Just my opinion / suggestion, Garuda. Anyway, hopefully this review will offer at least a hint of what you're in for if you're curious about trying "Sirin Blend". At the end of my review, I'm going to make an attempt to guess what vein colors are used in this blend. This is not meant to attempt to give away Garuda's "trade secret", but rather a small effort to be helpful to other prospective customers. And besides, my guess will probably be way off anyway.

I've tested "Sirin Blend" at 100% of my normal dose amount (5 grams) and then at a much smaller 40% (2 grams) dose in an effort to see if I could pull energetic properties out of it. Method used for both doses was toss & wash with "Sunny D" on an empty stomach. I noticed full onset for my full dose at approximately 50 minutes after dosing. The smaller dose was much quicker... roughly 30 minutes. 90 minutes after my full dose I experienced very calming and relaxing sensations. I also describe it in my personal notes as a "very heady" burn. At this dose, for me, this is certainly not a "go out and about" blend, as the train to Sedation-ville was quickly approaching. Pain relieving properties were also present. My mood was "level" but I really didn't detect any euphoria at this dose. The same can be said for energetic properties. Although, moderate energy and mild euphoria were present at the much smaller dose. At my normal dose, I was able to take a 30 minute nap at about the 4 1/2 hour mark. I feel that after I woke, any remaining effects of my full dose were just hanging by the thread. Total duration was probably around 5 - 5 1/2 hours. I took my 2 gram dose about an hour before I left for work. Smooth / alert energy on the way to work. Energetic properties only lasted approximately 2 hours on this smaller dose. At the 3 1/2 mark, the train to Sedation-ville not only left the station but darn near ran me over, which seemed very odd to me for a low dose. I managed to make it through my shift and trip home just fine. The thing I really liked about this experience was within 60 - 90 minutes of coming home, I was out like a light. Prior to hitting the pillow I had a few things to take care of and managed to pull together the energy to do them and was in a fairly decent mood doing it (even though I was yawning my head off). I only got roughly 4 1/2 - 5 hours sleep, but it must have been a very deep / relaxing sleep since I woke-up fairly refreshed and didn't experience much of the usual morning "brain fog".

Garuda's "Sirin Blend":

Energy / Focus / Motivation = Noticeable at lower dose only

Euphoria / Mood = Noticeable at lower dose only

Relaxation / Calming = Very Noticeable

Sedation = Very Noticeable

Pain Relief = Noticeable

So, if I were to guess what color strains were used in this "Sirin Blend", I have to say: Very little white (if any at all). I experienced no jitters whatsoever when using the blend. I'm thinking a moderate green was also used. And I'm going to guess that a very analgesic Red (perhaps a Bali or Borneo) was used. My gut is telling me some Yellow may have been thrown in for good measure. Again, I am only guessing / speculating, but I think what Garuda was going for with this blend was a "Full Spectrum" approach. Although, the color of the powder is on the lighter green side, so maybe a lot more quality White was used than I'm speculating... Which wouldn't surprise me since sometimes if I use a white strain at anything other than a small dose I can get really sedated. BUT, I didn't experience the slightest hint of shakes or jitters and the energy I experienced was moderately level... not hyper whatsoever. But maybe if Reds were used as well that counteracts the jittery White side effect for me. So, to be honest, I really have no definitive answer as to what colors I think may be in this strain, other than guessing it could be White and Red dominant. (Yes, I realize I'm contradicting myself :D ) But as always, your effects may not be the same as mine. You may get tons of energy from this blend. Who knows.

If you've used "Sirin Blend" from Garuda or if you try it in the future, please let me know what your experience is. In the meantime, Garuda's "trade secret" is still locked away in a vault, leaving us only to speculate. Mission accomplished for them, I suppose. My advice, for when trying this blend for the first or even second time, is to do so on a day off or save for when you know you're going to be home for the duration of the effects.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience with "Sirin Blend". For me it is better suited for days when I'm experiencing pain or a long "Netflix and Chill" type of session... probably not to be touched if I plan on setting foot outside of my home.

I absolutely love your reviews! Thank you :)

I have a sample of this strain and I find it to be very much a red strain or a blend of.

Thank you so much, Hippie! I look forward to reading more of yours too.

You know what, I bet you're right. How silly of me to think it would be more complicated than "just red". I think the "trade secret" line threw me off - I kinda' imagined some Kratom Mix Master Blendologist making a blend of something like 73 different strains or so
Although, the type of "headiness" sedation I experienced made me think it was something other than just red. As a matter of fact, something similar happened today when I dosed Garuda's "Super Maeng Da". Granted, I only got 4 1/2 hours sleep last night, but within 3 hours I was practically drooling on myself :P The great thing about "Super Maeng Da" (I'm assuming it's just a really slow Green) is that within 30 minutes of dosing I could feel it going to work on my back pain. Powerful stuff! I'm thinking about only taking 1.5g (30% of my normal dose) before work today.

Great review! Very detailed, and colorful. I love how each effect is tied to a different color, that's a brilliant idea. :D

As for the blend itself, definitely sounds like something I would try on a weekend. Do most strains take an hour to peak for you? I noticed you said it hit around 50 minutes and you felt more effects at 90 minutes.

Thanks E. I appreciate the kind words!
Most Kratom generally takes 45 - 60 minutes for me to feel effects. That's what I refer to as "onset". Sometimes I'll used the terms "mild" or "slight" onset when I'm "just barely starting" to feel something but in retrospect the effects eventually developed into stronger "sentations". I tend to use the term "peak" when effects are their "strongest" but also just before they decline. For me, "peak" usually occurs at roughly 2-4 hours. Every strain / "burn" is different for me. If I know I'm going to be doing a review, I tend to take much more detailed notes and have a tendency to pay more attention to the effects the Kratom is having on me. Sometimes during a "burn", a certain effect will occur that stands-out from anything else that happened during the session. Usually those "more pronounced" effects don't last long for me - generally 5-10 minutes... So that's what I meant with what I said at the 90 minute mark in my description of my experience with this blend. With all that being said, with many of the strains I've been testing lately, "onset" has been occurring much faster than it used to. I'm not sure if it's my body that's changing in it's response to Kratom or if the quality of Kratom I've been getting lately is much more potent than what I've been used to. Time will tell for sure which it is when I start using some of my "older" Kratom again. But I tend to think some of the strains I've been getting are of better quality (for which I'm grateful for). Also, I've been dosing twice a day again lately, with my "normal" / larger dose being in the morning (4-5g) and then a smaller dose (2-2.5g) in the late afternoon for energy just before work. Those smaller doses tend to take only 20-30 minutes for me to begin to feel effects. This type of dosing schedule is new for me and something I just kinda' stumbled upon, but I like it. It's been effective for me, and as long as I don't take that second dose later than 3 or 4pm, I've been getting much better sleep. (Which I am EXTREMELY grateful for, because my sleep cycle really sucked for a while. Lol)

Thanks for the review! Sirin was a bit of an odd one for me. I got a sample a month or so ago and it didn't do much for me. I kinda forgot about it until two days ago when I took it for my afternoon dose. I was blown away this time! Body chemistry is such an odd thing. I felt super relaxed, content, and my back pain was completely gone. I went ahead and ordered a kilo of it since I like to have blends on-hand for when I am too lazy to mix up my own. I should note both times I took my standard 3g dose and my second dose of the day.

Holy cow, ChristOnABiscuit! A kilo!?! At 3 grams per dose, that's going to last you forever! I only bought an ounce. Not sure if I would get more, but ya' never know. It is the ultimate "stay home and chill" blend... for me at least. And as you noted, good for pain. Glad you're enjoying it.

I sure as shit hope it lasts me forever! I like to have "stay at home and chill" blends for when my back is killing me. Makes my day/evening go from struggling not to lose my mind to kicking back with a good book or a game.

Agreed, Biscuit. Every so often mine throws me a big middle finger and I'm in the same boat. Wouldn't be so bad except for having to move -more- than a millimeter every now and then.

Thanks Krate for another great review!

Good Lord no. That ain't long winded. That's an absence of paragraph breaks, is all.

Throw in a few well-placed double returns and watch the magic unfold. :D
