Edit: I will update after a few more doses, as initial impressions are not always the best indicator, but for sure it's not trash tasting leaf.

I have legit never bought head shop kratom before this, and I'm not regretting buying this. Let me give some context, because I have a very weird relationship with head shop kratom. So while I never purchased head shop kratom before, I have tasted it.

I was in contact with a few large scale distributors who together provide basically all of the Northeast and beyond with "kratom" and other assorted products. At the time I was looking to open my own shop, so despite knowing this dude was clearly selling legal highs I let him send me a sample box because it was free. And holy HECC am I glad I never paid this dude a dime. That leaf was GARBAGE. Zero effects, maybe some caffeine in there but that's all I felt. Tasted awful. Absolute trash. I almost wound up with kilos and kilos of this stuff, and I can't imagine he would have given me a refund.

So fast forward to yesterday, and I'm stuck away from home running out of kratom with upwards of half a kilo sitting at home unopened because I can't plan for shit.

I bit the bullet and started calling local shops, getting the usual bad vibe from smoke shops and not feeling good about this

On the 6th call, I spoke to a shop owner on the phone and he said that he personally used kratom to kick painkillers and went through a lot of brands before picking this one.

One smell after opening the bag and I knew this was the real deal.

Yes, it was absolutely overpriced, and I could have gotten a kilo for what I paid for this 80g, but I'm happy with my purchase despite the convenience fee. I'd buy it again if In the same situation.

Not as sedating as I'd like, but I notice little difference between this and my Hudson Valley Botanicals Red Jongkong.

Not all headshop kratom is trash! Just do your research and ask questions.

I think most HK is decent, it’s just so overpriced from what you pay online. I moved to Fort Myers, Fl a couple years ago and down here there are Kratom bars where they make the drink for you, and it’s really good stuff. I don’t like paying 5 or 6 bucks for a cup of Kratom, but it’s different and there are always a lot of people at the bar. You did catch a break with the first guy though. I was burned once with a some bunk Kratom. A whole kilo, too. Ouch.
