looking for a new pup... love pitties, but pugs lookin cute.. gotta hit the pound in a few weeks
Suggestions?
I'm experienced with pitbulls, love them, but it's so dark hot here, might be a problem getting in 30min runs. Experienced with pits, but mine was like... super behaved and on point from the get-go, and very sweet and wanting to please and smart. Exceptionally so. She only ever behaved poorly about fiveish times.
Also considering a pug. I could carry him in a pack, take him to the park about a block away with water available and shade. From what I've read, i should be ok, but there is some hesitancy on my part. I'd like to meet a few pugs first. Ideally find one from the pound. Frank from MiB made me love pugs' ugly cuteness and pizazz. 'Who let the dogs out? Woof woof woof woof!'
Will be getting a kit, or two, so hope they all get along, which usually isn't a problem. Very experienced with cats.
Whatcha all think?

What about a boxer? We had one a while back and she was the best dog! Had a great temperament and short hair so didn't shed too much. She was very energetic and would go jogging with me.
We have a Pomeranian now and this thing is so spoiled and high maintenance it's ridiculous!

We had a friend who loved boxers, and I knew some from the dog park, and Mei had a hiking buddy who was a boxer. They're too drooly for me, and I prefer the looks of pits (classical pit breeds, not American Bullies or Pocket Pits, just AmStaff, APBTs, Staffy Bull Terriers).
Some pug breeders I was looking at charge $1000-2500!!!!
Taking a trip this week, gonna scout out the pound after I get back. Need a kitty so the animals can bond and keep each other company.

If you're getting a pug I would get it from a shelter as to not support pug breeders. OR make sure your breeder breeds ethical pugs (where they are genetically tested in order to avoid passing down health issues). I wouldn't look twice at those 'retro pugs'.
too many breeders out there just care about looks, not about healthy dogs.
I used to work for a boarding house and the pugs were always wheezing and gurgling when they tried to play with other dogs. It was very sad hearing them struggle to breathe

Good to seeya round again Stringy!
3/3/25 was (Japanese, not UN) Girls' Day, celebrated with a fish, like in your avatar... except they're red or pink to signify the feminine.
I think I'll end up getting a rescue pit, I love them so much. Lotta good things about pugs too, but unless there's one at the pound, I don't really want to pay $1000 or even twice over.

Pits are honestly amazing. They get a lot of hate for being 'aggressive' and they are definitely powerful dogs, but in my experience they are total sweethearts and very sensitive.
I used to date a girl who had one named "Shovelhead" because she would shovel into you with her shovel shaped head to get a space on the couch, then cuddle. She had a beautiful smile too. I miss that dog more than I miss my ex.
