Introduce yourself thread? I want to know about you!
Hey there, everyone! I searched through the forums and was surprised to see that no one has created an introduction thread yet. It looks like there was discussion of creating one at some point, but it never seemed to materialize. So, how about we give each other a bit of a keyhole-perspective into each other's life?
Hi there! I'm DrFappingston, a 23 year old male living in Ohio. I work in the Quality Office for a local Honda Supplier. I've been using Kratom since January of 2019. In my downtime, I like to play PC games with my friends, play guitar, write, and tinker with my gaming PC. I also enjoy photography, voiceover work and DJing online though I don't DJ much anymore due to lack of space for my setup. I like to collect knives and Zippos, though my Zippo collection has yet to get off the ground, but I'm looking to expand the collection soon.
I also enjoy working on my car. It's currently awaiting a Stage 2 tune (when finances allow) to finish up the performance mods, of which it's currently got an intercooler, catless downpipe, intake and turbo module (+4PSI over stock). I've got lots of things in mind for the car, but of course, in the world of cars nothing comes cheap!
I work for a Honda Supplier, we make anti-vibration bushings and dampers; essentially all of the things that make your car not rattle like a tin can when you're driving down the road. Engine mounts, transmission mounts, subframe bushing, suspension bushings, etc... I work in the Quality Management Systems group, where my main job is the training system (both on-the-job and classroom). I also do a lot of document control work regarding ISO 9001:2015, and our customer requirements/standardization/regulation. I do equipment calibration for handheld equipment such as calipers, thermometers or paint thickness testers... and more recently I've begun helping our Environmental Health and Safety manager with the ISO 14001:2015 standard... It's quite busy and stressful at times, as you can imagine. I also do internal audits, which is my (by far) least favorite part of my job because it involves talking to operators about their process and finding ways to improve the process for both efficiency and quality. Most old timers don't appreciate a "young buck pencil pusher" critiquing how they're operating the process they've been operating since before I was born... and I can't blame them lol.
Kratom has been incredibly helpful in mitigating the symptoms of my (professionally diagnosed... I hate that I have to put this caveat into any talk of mental illness because it's 2019 and WebMD has become the end all, be all for people in my age range galavanting around with their numerous self-diagnosed problems, hiding behind them as if it excuses them from their behavior instead of taking personal responsibility for their actions. /rantover) Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Clinical Depression and ADHD. It feels as if, when it takes effect, the anxieties and depressive thoughts all but melt away and I can just be relaxed, in the moment and without intrusive and unwanted thoughts plaguing my mind and dampening any enjoyment that I can derive from my hobbies or activities. I'm also starting to feel the beginnings of what I believe to be Fibromayalgia and potentially Degenerative Disk disease in the form of intense muscle tightness, soreness and generally achy-ness even when I've not done any physical activity. Simply bending over is enough most times. (Just two of the chronic pain conditions that I have the potential to inherit from my father, of which he has many ailments.)
Due to the potential for random drug tests at work, I had to quit smoking weed about 4 or 5 years ago. Since then I'd begun to turn to alcohol, which has always been my least favorite substance... I started binge drinking more and more recently and had a few close calls where I had to tell myself to quit for a while and re-adjust. I imagine I'll have to do the same with Kratom eventually, it's just who I am. I have a very addictive personality, but I've kicked much much worse and I like to think that I have a lot more self-control now than I ever did before.
I was... uhh... quite the experimenter in my teen years. With a "I'll try anything once" motto and "Live Fast, Die Young" mentality is not such a good combination. I have a long history of addiction, especially during my teen years and it seems that the theme of my adult life has been walking up to that proverbial ledge, seeing the drop into addiction. Turning around, taking ten paces and starting over again, but hey... At least Kratom won't literally kill me, unlike alcohol and other substances. That's an improvement in my book.
So, uhh.. Yeah, that's pretty much it for me. Please excuse the small novella I've written here; a lot of this post was copy-pasted from a Reddit post that I made a few days ago. Sometimes it's easier to reuse as opposed to rehashing everything in slightly different words. Now I'm curious to know about you all. How long have you been using Kratom? What do you use it for? What do you do to unwind after a long day or in your spare time?

Hi All! I'm South Floria kava family. My island is The Nak in Boca Raton. Also loving all the information about the vendors for both Kava and the other thing. I was looking for crush leaf and I could not find any at my usual vendors and then I stumbled upon this. Love the old school forum style! Rock on!

Welcome to The forum! I love this old school style too, it's what I'm used to. I put off joining Reddit for a long time because it looked so weird to me.spyder420 wrote:Hi All! Haha, I tend to feel much the opposite. I'm so accustomed to Reddit at this point, I think it's my preferred forum layout. Though I do frequent different "old school" forums, so at least this isn't entirely alien to me.herbalhippie wrote:Welcome to The forum! I love this old school style too, it's what I'm used to. Hi everyone!!
I just turned 40 this year, I'm a father of two boys 16 and 14. I've been an estimator for a construction company going on 18 years. I have been using kratom for the last three months so I'm very new. But Kratom has been a godsend for my crohn's disease as well as medical marijuana. To unwind after a long day at work I like to read, listen to podcasts and fish whenever I can find the time.

Re: Introduce yourself thread? I want to know about you!
Greetings!! I also have Crohn's Patchgarden! I was first diagnosed when I was 14 and had to have 8 inches of my ileum removed due to blockage....rough! (I am now 44.) I was in a flair from 2016 until I started taking kratom daily in 4/2017. I am now in remission and I know that kratom helped me get here <3 , but I also adhere to a gluten and dairy free diet and take a bunch of supplements. I am a stay at home mom to a son on the Autism Spectrum, if I didn't have kratom in my life I would definitely be very sick due to the stress I can experience day to day. My son is a happy boy most of the time, but he is non-verbal so he can get frustrated and sad when he wants to communicate. I also have Degenerative Disk Disease and osteoarthritis, the gift that is kratom helps me endure even the toughest of days. I <3 kratom!!
