These probably are more for ladies...
Ozark (2 seasons)
IZombie (dramedy supernatural series)
Haunted House on Hill St or whatever it's called (one season)
Good Girls (one season)
Young & Hungry
I'm currently stuck on Lucifer.

I just started watching Ozark! The first episode was kind of weird. Going to watch a couple more and see if I get into it better.NLK316 wrote:These probably are more for ladies...

I’ve been bingeing Z Nation, it’s B zombie horror and it’s so bad it’s good. Def a watchable SyFy production and it gets better as season 1 goes on. Netflix has all 5 seasons, if you like zombies I’d check it out.

Is it me, or are a lot of the shows on Netflix, British and/or Australian? I've tried watching a few shows and I can only tolerate that dialect so long...

There does seem to be quite a few, but the accents/dialect don't bother me.WotAnAtti2d wrote:Is it me, or are a lot of the shows on Netflix, British and/or Australian? I've tried watching a few shows and I can only tolerate that dialect so long...

These are some of the nice shows but I would also like to add all the shows by Andy Yeatman to the list. My favorite ones are Project Mc2 and Legend Quest. It is fun watching these shows with my family. Anyway, it was nice coming across this informative post.

Re: Your current favorite shows/movies on Netflix?
Got a few more "hidden gems" netflix horrors to add to the list -
Autopsy of Jane Doe - incredibly creepy and tense horror movie. I didn't know what to expect going in, but it was seriously good. Almost the entire movie takes place in a morgue and uses that setting to its advantage in all the right ways. Actors are great too. Definitely recommended if you want a good horror movie.
Apollo 18 - filmed in "found footage" style, this movie is about astronauts who embark on a classified/secret mission to the moon after the last official Apollo mission. If you like sci-fi horror, you'll probably enjoy this one.
Gehenna - low budget horror, but the story has a great twist. I honestly thought this one was going to be cheesy based on the netflix preview images and text, but it surprised me. The acting might not be the best, but the story and mystery was interesting enough to keep me entertained.

Check out Mirage on Netflix. Watched it last week and loved it. I also just finished The OA season 2. It’s filmed in San Francisco so The family and I went on a outing this weekend to SF to see the all the neighborhoods they were filming in. It was pretty fun.

"Into the Badlands" is excellent episodic entertainment. Beautiful production and plenty of well choreographed action. Plot interesting enough to hold it together.

A good show on Netflix is “The Fall”. My wife and I have recently been exploring our Amazon Prime membership (which we’ve had for about 3 years, but just started using for more than free shipping). Doesn’t have the volume of shows like Netflix, but it does have a few gems. “Bosch” is a really good cop show on Prime. Also “Sneaky Pete” is a good watch.

"Love, Death, and Robots" is a great show. It's an anthology which consists of sci-fi related animation shorts. Think Animatrix. Really has some great ideas.
Just saw "Stephanie" which was really good. Very reminiscent of an old Twilight Zone episode (don't want to spoil too much).
"Children of Men" is a fantastic sci fi flick. A really well executed premise.
Good suggesting e poison. Autopsy of Jane Doe is one of my favorites. Recently checked out Apollo 18 and liked it despite all the bad reviews I saw in the past.

Re: Your current favorite shows/movies on Netflix?
Love, Death and Robots was great! Although some episodes are significantly better than others, I liked it so much better than I thought I would. I love the idea of animation for adults. My favorite episode was Beyond the Aquila Rift. They could build a whole series around that.
Stephanie and Children of Men are both great too. I honestly didn’t see the twist coming in Stephanie.
I typically don’t pay much attention to reviews and I find that I tend to disagree with many of them. Critics these days only seem to like artsy stuff. Apollo 18 was very creative in its own way, despite its somewhat low critical scores.
My last binge was the fantastic zombie series Black Summer. Made by the people who made Z Nation, although Black Summer takes on a far more grim and serious tone. The cinematography is so good, they come up with some really interesting scene compositions. Highly recommend it if you like zombie stuff.

Re: Your current favorite shows/movies on Netflix?
Oh yea, Beyond the Aquila Rift was great. What an ending, lol! That made it for me.
But yea Black Summer. I was REALLY looking forward to it but I've made it through 3 episodes and I'm not really feeling it. The characters aren't my favorite. I am a pretty huge fan of zombie flicks too. I like early Walking Dead and I even like Z Nation as corny as it is. I dunno, I'll give it another shot, though. I got tons of time due to surgery recovery....I did like Kingdom though. The idea and setting is great. Love me some Korean/Asian horror.
You are right about reviews though. Go on Shudder. Some people bomb some really good movies. Unfortunately I tend to get swayed occasionally by really low scores.
Other worthy flicks on Netflix are Delirium, Mercy Black, and Cam. Actually some pretty good horror/thrillers on Netflix if you dig for it.

Re: Your current favorite shows/movies on Netflix?
I’m about 3 episodes into Kingdom. Liking it so far! I’m not a fan of subtitles so I turned on the English dub. If you like zombies and Korean/Asian horror, check out Train to Busan on Netflix. It’s one of the better zombie movies out there!
I really liked Black Summer, but I can see how some may not. Seems to be hotly debated on the Netflix subreddit. Either people seem to love it or hate it. Personally, I really liked it.
I also like Z Nation, although it definitely is corny at times lol. And I really like The Walking Dead, well at least the earlier seasons. I have to admit I stopped watching TWD about halfway through this past season, but once it hits Netflix I will definitely be catching up.

Re: Your current favorite shows/movies on Netflix?
Adding another movie to this thread that I watched a couple nights ago. I watch a lot of movies but only try to recommend the best of the best here.
The Blackcoat's Daughter - highly surreal and dark horror film with a focus on atmosphere and mood. It's admittedly a slow burn and is intentionally misleading/confusing at times, so you'll need some patience to watch it. Overall though, it creates an atmosphere of dread that is unmatched in most horror films. I also really liked the cast selection in this movie and there were no weak links. Everyone nailed their role, which is great to see in a horror film. A little twist at the end that I saw coming, but only because the movie drops a few too many clues (probably intentional). Highly recommend this little gem if you're up for something dark and bleak.
Unfortunately, the director's next movie I am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House was a complete mess. I watched it last night and definitely don't recommend that one. It tried to do what Blackcoat's Daughter did with the oppressive atmosphere and drawn out dread, but went about it in all the wrong ways I feel. The pacing was a little too slow and while the cinematography was good, it just didn't appeal to me and I found myself getting bored often and just wanted the movie to end.

So not Netflix but if you have HBO or can steal someones....watch Chernobyl. Just....holy fuckballs. One of my top shows period. It's a mini series so not long. Super bingeable. Great actors. Just fantastic. I believe my husband said it beat out GoT for them in viewers or ratings or something. He's sawing logs next to me but I'll ask when he gets up. Either way 10 out of 10 would watch again. We should be watching the last episode tonight sofa king excited
(Ps started using talk to text and sofa king came out instead of so fucking and I'm in tears laughing trying not to wake him and 2 kids up. Now I'm gonna use that for the rest of time.)

And I watched Rim of the World the other night. Netflix original movie by McG. Fucking terrible. Low budget and unoriginal. Avoid

It may seem like it was cancelled though since there is like a 2 year delay between seasons.

My favorite shows on Neflix are:
Real Rob (a comedy tv-series about Rob Schneider)
Kim's Convenience (a comedy tv-series about Korean family living in the US)
H2O: Just add water (something about that show, the atmosphere, the actors & mermaids, just draws you in)
Aggretsuko (animated show) just try watching 1st episode and see if you like it
Hi Score Girl (anime show) for those who enjoyed arcade video games back in the the 80s-90's

I liked ‘I am Mother’ and ‘Book of Eli’ too.
Another good movie I watched on Netflix is ‘Lifechanger’. It has all the makings of a very corny movie in the first 20 minutes and I was about to just write off as another dumb low budget movie Netflix acquired for its quantity-over-quality library, but I was pleasantly surprised in how it plays out.

Do yourself a favor and watch “The Great Hack”
Its a documentary about Cambridge Analyitica and how they use your information to influence elections across America. It is a very, very interesting documentary and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Someone's probably mentioned Hemlock Grove on Netflix... season 1 was fantastic, BEST WEREWOLF TRANSFORMATION EVER.
Season 2 jumped the shark, but this was Netflix's first original show.
The Shrine was an interesting horror adventure type not filled with action, and there are all kinds of reasons why the missing people's families wouldn't come looking for them, but it was cool.

Re: Your current favorite shows/movies on Netflix?
'To The Lake' was great, just binged that this past week. A virus (that turns people crazy and violent, almost zombie-like) is spreading as the government and social structures break down. People are fleeing big cities to escape the turmoil. The show is from Russia, so it takes place in the harsh Russian winter. Lots of violence, tough decisions the characters have to make, and post-apocalyptic survival-type stuff. The story is really tight without a lot of fluff, so the story keeps chugging along at a nice pace. I highly enjoyed this one, hope it gets renewed for another season.
'Reality Z' was pretty good too. A Brazilian zombie miniseries based off the British miniseries 'Dead Set', although Reality Z adds 5 more additional episodes that pick up where the Dead Set story left off. If you like zombies, this one is definitely a must watch.

Definitely need help with this. Problem is I've seen everything I wanted to see on Netflix and Prime Video. I already cut Netflix because there also Just raised their price again. I get Amazon Prime Videos and all the other perks for $6 a month. Not dropping that.

Has anyone seen Cargo on Netflix. Great zombie movie that brings a tear to the eye at the end.
If you have Amazon Prime watch One Child Nation. It’s about the population control methods the Chinese government used to use. It’s horror alright, unfortunately it’s true. It took my son and I 2 nights to watch it. Not because it’s overly long, but because you can only take so much before having to shut it off.

Try it Greyfeather. I know you’ll like it. Its not really scary but it’s different from our typical zombie movies. It’s Australian, and set in the outback complete with Aborigine tribes. Let me know what you think
