Best Christmas and/or gift you received

Alooooha!
What was (assuming you participate in Christmas festivities, if not, tell us about some of your other holidays) your baddest ass parties/presents/food you ever got to experience???
I had a junky time for many holidays, felt not in sync with family or religious stuff, and most of my partying buds were with their families. We had a 24/7 billiard place to shoot pool, so sometimes I'd go there on holidays. The clerk remembered my name, so that really boosted my self esteem.
As I got older, I wasn't so morose and got to make memories that I liked more. A Hawaiian party is a thing to behold, and it only starts with the food. There are so many cultures here each representing with their best noms. So even if Hawaiian food doesn't sit well with you, every type of Asian, Latin, and Western European cuisines will make it up. (I was so picky as a kid, I missed out on understanding and appreciating food in general, and Hawaiian in particular). Chefs such as Sam Choy, Alan Wong, Roy Yamaguchi, Mavro, Merriman, Chai, have been credited with creating Pacific Rim style foods, and elevating the simple, purple, pasty poi to trends that stretch from Japan to NYC.
As you can tell, I now love the holidays for food!!!!!!!
Best present.... hmm. I will have to say eating leftovers after everything is put away and cleaned, then making a 3rd plate, probably chill with my animals when they were still around.
But for a gift that could be unwrapped, hmmm. I would have to say that it would be waddling to the movie theater after being stuffed with a triple serving of turkey and stuffing...with my dad in my mid-20s, I was far from perfect, but it was the start of me really trying on my end to making a real effort to honor my mom and dad.
That's not really unwrappable either... soo ummm. Got it! My parents got me a pecan pie, fresh strawberry pie, custard pie, and apple pie from Anna Millers. So durn good. Ahhh, the memories.
Aloha!!!!
