Do people introduce themselves?

Okay, I do! I'm new to this board. My name is Helga. I'm nearly 70 and have been using kratom for several years for RLS at night. I was on 2 mg of clonipin which sort of helped, sort of didn't after a while, but would wake up with the most blackest, depressing thoughts that would only last a minute, but it was enough for me to realize a) I'm not THAT depressed or despondent and b) I need to at least reduce this drug. Took me 2 yrs to get to 1 mg. I have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) most of the day, hence the script which helps stop that. I have had this since I was 9? Yeah, long time. I forget where I heard about kratom, but it worked the first night I took a capsule. After many years, yeah I have to take more, but oh well. I see that there are some other vendors other than the two I have used, so I will check y'all out! :)

Anyway, nice to meet you and be here. I felt all alone when I first started using this stuff!

Hey Helga, welcome to the forum! I’m glad kratom is helping your RLS. Lots of good people here to talk with!

We actually do have an introduction thread that can be found here if you’re interested - viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2484

Hey there, and it's gratifying to read of people's successes using Kratom. It's helped keep me from getting prescribed all kinds of stuff for a body that was beat up by decades of hard physical work.

Aloha Helga, and welcome!

I get RSL at night, tossing and turning for hours at a time. But if I have a dose of kratom during the day, 99% of the time I won't get RSL. RLS comes back over a period of a few days if I skip the kratom for a few days (and it isn't withdrawal from kratom that manifests in RLS).

I have not experienced RLS during the day, I would imagine it to be less of a problem, as you can go for a walk or move the legs with some purpose instead of thrashing around at night trying to stay lying on the bed. Sometimes I cycle my legs, rub them, tap them on the bed or floor, change sleeping positions or locations...so frustrating.

I hope you find relief, perhaps through a post here, or anywhere, to control or eliminate the hell that is RLS.

Aloha back! I haven't used kratom during the day at all. I have some energizing greens I could try. That would be interesting if it worked. I've had RLS since I was 9 or 10. Mainly for me, back then, it would hit when I was sitting... either in a car (trips were awful) or in church. Back in those days, no seat belts, so I would stand behind either my dad or my mom  and hold on so I could move my legs. I really didn't have any issues at night until I was in my 40's and it attacked with a vengeance. I read that menopause (sorry, tmi), sometimes exercise, and aging make it worse. Haha.. 3 for 3! I'm sorry you have it. It is annoying as hell. I'm having some trouble tonight, so I took a white sumatra. Hopefully, I can sleep.

Hi Helga, welcome to MM, we've got a few 70's folks around here, myself included lol 😄 - yeah the RLS can be a thing for me, too, I take Gabapentin at night if needed for that. Also there's a supplement on Amazon called - Hyland's Naturals, Restful Legs PM, this is a homeopathic tiny pill. I've tried it - seems to help if I take 2 in middle of night.
