It's not the easiest of times right now. Is everyone doing at least ok?

Hi there HH, I'm doing pretty well. More or less enjoying retirement, which has improved my health quite a bit by giving me more time to exercise and far less stress.

My only real problem is that several people I care for belong to groups targeted for abuse by the current US administration. But I'll spare you the political rant that inspires.

I'm kind of digging we have had a cooler spring than normal, and decided to do spring cleaning today as I took of work to get a 4 day weekend. Well I found a box of kratom with several kilo's( 4 or 6) in it and am kinda excited to see if they are still good. It's TFH red's, I forgot which one it is though. It was from a black friday deal like 3 or 4 years, maybe even 5 years ago lol. I sealed up most of it again so forgot the other supplier name but remember couple are named platinum. Also started playing black ops again after like year or two of not playing, and hate me all you want, but under 25ish years olds are the worst gamers ever in history. Literally spend 8/10 hours a day gaming and are just so terrible, just camping and do not care if they win at all with just horrid KD ratio. Not 100% of em, but I'd say 9 outta 10 are. End rant

Retirement is lovely. I try to fill my days with this and that, keep body and mind active.

We've had a relatively cool spring too, it's been nice. Kinda worried about the heat this summer though.

Me too. In Chi if it get real hot means we will get bad storms, and that'll suck. Lost everything in 2011 to a flood with two small children and still havent fully recovered. Flood insurance is a scam and screwed ua.

Are you in a better place now? it's summer 2026 now and Hawaii's got hit by a tropical storm with flooding. This year's El Nino is not a Nino, it's a crusher, gonna make more storms and wind, gonna be power outages galore. We have solar on our roof and they really help with electricity costs (highest in the nation) and short term power outages don't cause us any trouble.

That's good you have solar! Our electricity is dirt cheap here and the power rarely goes out. It's going to be interesting to see what winter brings for us.

That's good you have solar! Our electricity is dirt cheap here and the power rarely goes out. It's going to be interesting to see what winter brings for us.

Yeah, right now we import oil (well, we import everything except some agriculture, we rely on tourism for our economy) to power our energy plants. There has been experimentation with OTEC, using ocean water to heat/cool steam for power, and geothermal, but haven't heard much about them lately, and we have wind farms and solar farms/solar panels on individual properties. There's a push now to switch to natural gas, apparently we are behind the rest of the nation in being clean and cheap and this will help us in our movement to meet energy goals by year 20XX. I wish the Vatican or our or any government would share the secrets of safe, cheap energy instead of hiding it from the world and assassinating the people who find and develop them. Some say our military already has very small scale cold fusion munitions which are being utilized by our troops as we speak, explaining why disabled enemy tanks have radiation signatures... who knows.

We have had a bit of rain and wind from passing tropical storms, (week of Sept 8th, 2026) not too bad, but slated to have much much more severe weather, hope no hurricanes. Kauai got hit hard, esp. their power grid. ATM it's mostly restored.

Question for all: where are you located, do you/don't you have power, how's the weather lookin?
