Protect yourself!

Post by herbalhippie »

I belong to an unemployment support group FB page for my state. A lady posted this morning that someone had gotten into her Paypal and removed all her money from her bank account. She's working with her bank now to try to fix things.

After my last order with Chris I probably won't be purchasing any more kratom, I have enough. So I've been considering deleting CashApp and Venmo, I don't use them for anything else. I have heard of this happening with CashApp too, also to someone on that unemployment FB page.

I went in to Paypal thinking to remove my banking info and decided that for now, I will just set up a two step authentication, which I did. I decided to have a look at automatic payments because I stopped auto payments on my VPN through the VPN last night and am going to stop a few more. Save some money. I was shocked to see what autopayments were in there! A couple things I've never heard of! As far as I know, nothing has gone out except for a couple $6 payments I couldn't figure out a few months ago. I cancelled autopayment on like 7 or 8 things.

And change your password if you haven't in a while. Best/easiest I've heard of is a sentence with a number somewhere in the middle.

I wonder if Google Pay is 'safer', since you can use it, then not save, or *delete*, your card number after using it, so it's theoretically not just sitting there in some database between uses.

I use 2FA for EVERYTHING these days. If a service offers it, I use it.

Chances are very high she was phished and fell for a fake login page. That explains 99% of these cases tbh.

This, always use 2 factor authentication ALWAYS this will never happen if you do. They would have to clone your phone in order to receive anything very very very unlikely.
