Post in here when you are hungry.
I would like a big plate of poutine with steak bits and butter-onion fried mushrooms. Load it thick with a garlic gravy and fresh mozzarella curds. Serve with ale and a joint.

I've never had poutine. I think I would like it without the cheese, somehow gravy and cheese together doesn't sound good to me.
But this sounds amazing. There's a restaurant in Ontario that makes poutine like this. They fry the potatoes in duck fat (supposedly makes amazing light, crispy fries) and they add in confit duck, well, this is from the website.
"Le Chien Noir’s version replaces the frozen fries with fresh, perfectly double-fried frites, replaces the cheese curds with five-year-old Canadian cheddar, and uses a peppercorn and Cognac sauce instead of canned beef gravy. And as if that’s not enough, they add triple-smoked bacon and shredded duck confit!"
I would eat that.

I could go for some lilikoi cheesecake but i'm back on keto.
My birthday is the 31st, I might order a stuffed crust pizza (papa john's has it now!) and maybe a chocolate cheesecake (ottocake.com). Bought myself a manual burr grinder for coffee.

Thank you!
I haven’t had sushi since before Covid hit. Now that the restaurants are opening back up, I’m thinking going out for sushi (& saki!) might be fun!

Sushi is THE number one forever. Ever since I was a young little white boy in the Barrio. There was a place that had octopus nigiri, I was 8.
All downhill from there...
Fast forward: planning a 2nd Japan trip, hopefully more rural, hopelessly addicted to raw fish and considering a full body tattoo ala Irezumi (google).
I'm kidding on the last one.
Sushi provides me a thorough and whole filling. It is like my body had exactly what it was supposed to, but every fucking time. Guaranteed!
I want a real crab hand roll (don't skimp on me), live shrimp with the fried head please, fresh oysters, big lumps of uni, nothing too cold, we can let it sit and talk. No salads, no sides, no fill-ary (gf word for 'needless'), not even dessert. Fresh fish, skilled hand, sharp knife and big bites.

Oh no, I should have known better than to open this thread. Now I'm craving everything in it!
I haven't had the opportunity to have much sushi besides california rolls and tekkamaki. Love both to death though.
And poutine... though it's very hard to find where I'm from. I had some at a microbrewery once, of all places, but last time I drove down that street, the place had closed down. My search for poutine will begin anew once covid calms down a bit more.
I could really go for just some basic pepper steak and lo mein. The chinese place I used to use has closed down too unfortunately.

Something is wrong with me (loaded statement, I know) but since I was diagnosed with a super rare congenital vascular abnormality, and my pain levels have soared, I am never hungry. Ever. I eat when I get shaky.
It is sad. I loved to eat. I'm a girl, and when I was a kid I inhaled food and apparently had a hollow leg. I never bought into diet culture and just ate, had a host of favorite foods. In NYC, I was always going out to eat with friends.
Now, I can't get hungry or excited about food at all. I miss that part of my life horribly! I also could eat massive proportions, and now I get full from a bowl of cheerios. Food and drink are some of the very best things in life. Enjoy, and screw diet culture. If I could fix myself, I would. I have a recipe for Mexican layered dip that was my favorite food of all, but New York, Brooklyn, and Queens had some of the best bloody dining I've ever had.
I realize this is a bit antithetical to the original post, but I write in the spirit of, and celebration of food!

I could go for a big burger and fries right now. Sauteed mushrooms, swiss, bacon, lettuce, onion, pickle, ketchup, mayo. No tomato (I know it's strange I like ketchup but not tomato on my burger)! Ahhh, my perfect burger.
Wash it all down with a couple Fat Tire Amber Ales.
Then a long nap of course.

I'm not hungry anymore, Memorial Day was my birthday and I got an oreo cheesecake and a Papa John's stuffed crust with salami and onions. Let my dad have a couple of slices of pizza, ate the rest over 3 eating sessions, and half the 10" cake is gone, gave two massive slices to dad, one to his friend, and consumed 3 huge pieces, still have 6 slices left. Definitely should have gone with the 7" cake instead. Burp.

We had a heat wave started yesterday so I made a big bowl of shrimp salad. Diced english cucumber, carrots, cauliflower, red pepper,
radishes, green onions and small chunks of iceberg lettuce. Lots of tiny salad shrimp. About 2/3 mayo and 1/3 ranch dressing.
So crunchy. So cold. yum

Had to run some errands today and passed a few Chinese restaurants. Could barely keep from salivating, lol. I don't even know what I want in particular, I think I'd take a little of everything. I miss good Chinese food so much omg.

There's some good chinese places around here. Like, actual good chinese food, not just the "everything tastes the same" generic type of chinese food restaurant. I had some this past weekend actually lol.
What I personally miss the most is a good pizza. I'm not being overdramatic or hyperbolic when I say this: There is literally no GREAT pizza around here. You'd think being a few hours from Chicago there'd be decent pizza but nope. It's one of the things I really hate about my current city. Most of the pizza around is pure junk. It's all so dry and tasteless. I am craving a GREAT pizza so bad and it's not even possible to get one in this city.
There is an Old Chicago restaurant by my house here and they make a passable pizza, but it's chain pizza. It's missing the love put into the pizza that only comes out from mom-and-pop shops. When I crave a pizza, that's where I go but it's still just chain pizza. It doesn't quite fulfill the caving for a true pie, but it works I guess lol.
I'm from Ohio originally, about 30 miles south of Cleveland, and there were so many excellent pizza places it was insane. Right by my house was a mom-and-pop pizza shop that made the most delicious pizza I've ever eaten. The crust was homemade and crispy, the sauce was delicious and they used the perfect amount, and they PILED the cheese (real mozz cheese, not that fake plastic shredded cheese most places use) and toppings on. Then, I move out here to Iowa and they couldn't make a decent pizza to save their life.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk about pizza.

We have no good Chinese places here. The best out of a bad bunch went out of business due to the pandemic and it was nothing fancy, just decent mid-century Cantonese. I've had some VERY bad "Chinese" food in this town.
Reminds me. I'm going on another vision quest over to the Seattle area this weekend, I can get some good Chinese food!!!

I just made a post but musta been exactly the same time minus a fraction of a second as Hippie's cause her post ate mine.
Here's the gist:
-found a place that serves dim sum for dinner, rare cause dim sum is a brunch thing, am happy, love shiu mai (pork an shrimp steamed dumplings), baked cha siu bao (sweet pork in buns), jin dui (dessert, sweet red bean past in a fried mochi ball covered with sesame seeds). This was leftovers from my parents' dinner, and they brought some chicken feet, aka phoenix claw, which I tasted. Not bad, but you gotta suck the gelatinous foot skin off of tiny bones. Very weird as I was not brought up eating it.
-complained that no place outside of NY has NY style pizza, suspect maybe some places in Jersey may, think it's the ovens. wonder why can't be duplicated but it's on every corner in NY and delish.
-recommend never eat at an all you can eat 'asian buffet' on the mainland, usually there are terrible copies of Chinese and Japanese food. you will feel sick.

There's a place at the Pike Place Market in Seattle, been there since the 70s, and they make the best BBQ pork baked bao. OMG

Fused Flora introduced me to Carr Valley bread cheese, a salty, creamy cheese which is baked to a golden finish. I cube it, micro for 30 seconds, and eat. It squeaks on your teeth a little and is so creamy, my favorite type of cheese now. I have been dropping $50 weekly at Whole Foods for five blocks of this culinary gold. I wake up in a trance at night and eat 1/3 block. It is insanely good. Originally Scandinavian and called "juustoleipä," peeps in Wisconsin use cow milk to make it.

Gravy and cheese is not so weird a combo taste wise. Just very unhealthy. It does have to be a certain type of gravy depending on the poutine. I like brown gravy but have also made poutine with white mushroom gravy and it was pretty amazing.

ohmygod. Sushi in Asia is insane by the seaside. It's always fresh and cheap and good.
I actually had some KILLER sushi from the 7/11s in Taiwan. They would make it daily. I'm really not sure why it was so damn good but I ate that for breakfast almost daily for a month. Heaven. I think it cost me around $7 to get filled up on sushi and have a fruit + water. Could easily pay more than that for the sushi alone in America. I hear Japan is expensive too but the rural areas probably aren't, and probably have some great sushi.

Cleaned out Whole Foods of their Carr Valley bread cheese, am set for the next two weeks.
As my body further slips into a ketogenic state, most of my hunger will abate, my attention will become more focused, my body will start burning fat (fat I eat and fat in my body), I will feel more energetic and cheerful, and my sweat will start to smell harsh. I will move closer to attaining the beach bod.
Sometime after that point I will think about rice, beans, bread, tortillas, pizza crust, potatoes, pasta, other noodles, chips, cereal, fruit, and baked goods. As long as I don't fall during early moments of weakness, the keto train will keep going and I won't crave carbs anymore. Also ketosis can be maintained with about 30g carbs/day, most of which comes in leafy greens and veggies, but a spoonful of pb or one bite of chocolate are realistic cheats.
Excited to be feeling that keto energy again!

About to get some Chik-fil-A. I start my hardcore holiday diet next week, so going a bit HAM this week on the junk lol.
