Long lasting strain for pain?
Hi peeps,
I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a strain for pain that will last several hours. I have CP and I burn daily. Ive been sampling lots of strains and so far I've only found one that I'm super happy with (Canopy Red Hulu, in case you were wondering). Strong pain relief that lasts about 4 hours. The others I've tried either weren't strong enough or didnt last long enough. I've only ordered from Canopy and BB so far. I usually T&W 3/4 or 1 tsp.
So far I've had these:
Not enough pain relief-
Canopy: red bali, gold maeng da
Bb: red bent
Good relief, but short lived-
Canopy: Red maeng da,
BB: red jong kong, chocolate jong kong
I've had some greens too but I mostly use those for anxiety.
So.... can anyone recommend a good, analgesic strain with long legs? I would be so grateful!

Herbal RVA's Royal Bentuangie is great for pain (and anxiety)! I'm also liking K-OG's Red Aceh for pain.

Red Aceh from Kratom OG
Vampire from Mystic Island
Gold bali from Canopy
And a good Red Bali from most reputable vendors should work nicely on pain.

Yeah they don't do sample since their pricing is super low/more than fair regularly. The 100g bags for $9 is a steal either way, and imo can rarely ever beat their split kilo pricing!!!DrMe wrote:I want to try the RVA royal bent since 2 ppl have now recommended it but it looks like they dont have samples![]()

Yep, when I want to sample something from RVA I just buy the 100g bag and order again immediately if I like it after trying it.

I have some and I absolutely love it. One thing you should know, though, is that it seems to be potentiated in blends: good on its own, but absolutely -fantastic- in a blend, especially with another red. I first learned about it from this Reddit thread, tried it, and loved it. So when you get it, be sure to try it both ways, on its own and 50/50 with another red. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised.DrMe wrote:I want to try the RVA royal bent since 2 ppl have now recommended it...

Can you recommend a red to try it with? And hey, maybe some of the other strains I tried might work better in a blend, too...

The Royal would be wonderful blended with the Red Hulu you already like...a match made in pain relief heaven
...But any "faster" red would pair well with it..Red Horn, Red Maeng Da, Red Thai for daytime use...and blend with a Borneo, Indo or Bali for evenings. Blends are your FRIENDS

What Labdog said, heh. He got to it first and said it all.DrMe wrote:Can you recommend a red to try it with?
But if you want a -very- specific recommendation, one that I got from the thread I linked above and liked myself was RVA Royal Bent + RVA Red Ketapang. A great sleepytime special.
Absolutely. I used to never blend, but now I blend ALL the time. Well worth the trouble, because frequently (not always) the end result is greater than the sum of the parts. Give it a shot! Start with 50/50 blends first so you can get a good idea of what each strain is adding to your mix, and think in terms of effects, like bumping up the energy with a white or green, or adding legs/pain relief with a red, that kind of thing. You won't be disappointed. And hey, maybe some of the other strains I tried might work better in a blend, too...

Mystic Islands Ruby is prob the longest lasting Kratom I have ever tried. Its pretty effective at pain relief too. It also does wonder for anxiety or depression so definitely check that one out.

Ok when you say 50/50 do you mean to take half the amount of each that you normally take? Or double?
For instance I usually take 1 tsp of red hulu, total. Do I take .5 tsp of red hulu and .5 tsp of royal? Or 1 tsp of each?
Btw thanks for answering these newbie questions.

No problem, I'm glad you asked instead of changing your dose!DrMe wrote:Ok when you say 50/50 do you mean to take half the amount of each that you normally take? Or double?

Look at your dose as the total amount you want to create in a blend. .5 tsp of red hulu plus .5 tsp of royal gets you to your normal teaspoon, so that's exactly right. One teaspoon of each would double your dose, so no.
Also -- I have to say it -- you will get much more out of your doses if you start weighing your kratom. Not every strain has the same grind and some are much denser than others. If I remember correctly, RVA Royal Bent is a very heavy one, so you may notice a half teaspoon is far more potent. That's not because it's a better strain -- though it does rock! -- it's because you're getting more kratom in that half teaspoon.
What you -really- need is a scale. This is the one I use daily. I have others but I like this one the most, and right now it's $7.06 on Amazon. Waaaaay too cheap not to have one. And I use condiment cups for weighing: save one from a takeout order and reuse it, or just buy some, they're like $2 for 50 at the grocery store, usually located near the plastic forks and paper plates. It really could not be easier or cheaper.
I started off with measuring spoons like you did, and they're okay to start with, but getting a scale changed my life. That's not an exaggeration. Until I got a scale I didn't realize how perfect kratom could be because I was so frequently underdosed or wobbly. At the time I blamed it on various strains, but once I started weighing it was like the difference between night and day because I was getting -every- dose dialed in just right. I literally cannot recommend it enough. And now that you're doing blends... seriously man. Get a scale!

See my post from today on Herbal RVA's RED INDO...Wonderful, long lasting pain relief. This was on my first dose though...Have not thoroughly researched this one, but it is apt to sell out FAST when RVA re-opens tonight at 7pm, so wanted to give it mention.DrMe wrote:Hi peeps,
