Are you able to tell if kratom is fresh just by taking it

Have some kratom that's been sitting for a few years, can definitely tell it's been sitting there by taste comparing to fresh that's been purchased within few months, are you able to tell the difference?

No, I don’t really need to taste kratom as I use blate papes.

yes, you can tell freshness by appearance - color, smell, etc. Fresh only means it was harvested recently and dried a certain way.. old kratom that's grey and dry and powdery will still have the same oomph.

We had a member of strange caliber who would take an order, then send something else instead, and more than your order. He would usually let you keep the kratom and usually resend the right stuff, and with it, send you a lot of other batches of powder, usually it was all old, and, strong, and my theory was that he just had one big sack of it, as his menu was like 200 items. The way he labeled them was weird, too. Nice guy, but a less tenuous grip on reality that I have (and I find myself slipping all the time.)

I have personal bags from 5 years ago or more. I sometimes dip into them. They lack alot of aroma but the effects are still there. Your biggest concern with old powder is whats been growing on it. You can have alot of mold on the powder and still not actually see mold. When you can see mold that's well over limits of safety. Old powder is still good powder if its been stored relatively good.

Smell, and color, followed by taste are the three things you can use to find out. But smell and color are also dependent on the curing and drying process. You can have fresh powder that looks like semi old green powder that will have a dull color and medium aroma but be new powder. You can also have Fresh powder thats vaccuumed sealed and stored out of light that still have good color and aroma but be a year old.

I was purchasing from a vendor about 8 years ago who sounds similar. The website disappeared or was shut down and I can’t remember he name.
