Making tea from good powder

I have been making tea now for about 2 weeks with excellent results. I measure 6 grs of powder and simmer it for 15 minutes at high ( not boiling ) water for 15 minutes. I poor it in a French press and drink the tea. At night for sleep, I measure 9 grs, and reduce it to about 1/2 cup to take at night. I have had very good results from this method. The tea is 1 and 1/2 the dose I took when toss and washing. I am not getting all the gunky powder in my gut, and the potency is good. That is equal to 21 grpd, but I throw out a good portion of it after the press. It was 14 grpd. I do wonder, because the Mitragyna effects are good if I am getting physically addicted...if I don't stop, how would I know.

I am dealing with pain 24/7 because of neuropathy. I hear the addiction is far less awful than opioid addiction. I had to make a choice.

Such inconclusive information out there on all of this. I've always heard that if it puts you to sleep or kills pain, it has addictive properties as a rule.
There's also the line between dependent and addicted.
What part is to make money and what part is for your health?

That's about right... I think what you're saying is, USE 1.5X the amount to make Tea... 1 and ½ times... Even 2 times your "Normal Serving" of powder, by weight. Also true when using
Crushed Leaf kratom to make Tea.

~ There is a long discussion on
Aeropress Tea, methods, use the Search Bar.
I do enjoy Tea, but another way to Eat Less Dirt... (lol kratom powder is like = 3% alkaloids and 97% leaf matter or... dirt.) ~ Another way is...
Extract.
Cut your regular Normal Serving of powder in half, and make a cocktail, with a carefully measured Extract shot... that's the Advanced method for Veteran consumers!

Well...2-3% Mitragynine, but there is definitely an entourage effect in effect and there is basically no real info on the other alkaloids save for a few words on a chart (that I can find...)

I’m glad someone else said this. I want sure of the percent but I knew eating leaf was like 90% not what u want.

Ive been making tea often lately, I use an Aeropress for the strain and follow aces method pretty close. As ballz said can search it and others up. I use lemon as the acid mixed w the powder or crushed leaf as I find it cuts the bitterness and like 6 oz of water so its more like a glorified shot. Works magnificently for me.

Dont agree w yall that 90% of powder is dirt. Its a leaf that comes from a tree. How does that spell dirt, and not chlorophyll, and other minerals in small amounts? Something green has lots of beneficial properties, and in the case of kratom, mitragynine is not the only thing hangin out in the leaf. Maybe with headshop kratom, cheap brands servin up cheap shit(fillers). Dosing twice a day and leading a fairly healthy lifestyle, not worried about it.✌

I think they're referring to the general alkaloids contained within vs the volume of actual material. If you dose frequently like toss and wash you're consuming a lot of powder, extracting removes the powder and leaves the good stuff we all love

Ok, understood. But seems counter intuitive to think or speculate that there's no health benefit from consuming a healthy green leaf. While the focus is mitragynine and a few other alkaloids, i think in time we'll see that clean powder has an array of other beneficial alkaloids, minerals, etc.

Definitely full of fiber which a lot of people lack. Kratom makes you regular. Like...in THAT way.
I feel the same as you about it. It's obviously good for you. Like coca tea.

Using just powder and some warm water worked for me for months. Then I had to have a colonoscopy. I started making tea in the prep phase. It works great. I have had IBS for years, and for some reason it is back with a bit of fury. I am taking budesonide for colitis so I am being extra careful about what I am eating. I am having to take 2 doses of Miralax and psyllium husk daily now. It is like a juggling act right now.
I don't feel like consuming powder is bad for you. I guess it could be if your doing like 50 gpd. I also realize that making tea is costing a bit more, because you need more powder per dose. I have gone from 4gr. powder, to 6gr. tea, now I am using 7gr. tea. I also use about a tbsp of apple vinegar. If my IBS stays ok with tea, I will adjust my budget.

Announcement or... Check This Out!
Aeropress now finally has a BIGGER version the XL -
https://aeropress.com/products/aeropres ... e-maker-xl
So when I make Aeropress Tea, and doing the "inverted" method (Aeropress unit upside down & holds around 8-9 ounces) - Fills up a regular Coffee Cup. Now - this XL would make, maybe 20 ounces ? which is enough for many days cold in the fridge... I just might buy one, Amazon or maybe Ebay.

I"m making tea for the first time. Got a tooth out today and I don't think kratom sludge would do the socket any good.
Usual dose is .75-.80 powder. I used 1.35g, 4 oz water and about 2 tsp lemon juice. Keep at 175-190 for 30 minutes.
Unfortunately I got distracted and my tea came to a boil even though the stove was set on the lowest setting. I guess I'll find out if I destroyed my tea.
Edit: The color looks good. I'll put a bit of honey in it and let it cool down and toss it back. lol
Edit 2: WOW it works!!

Tea is the best overall way to use kratom. Its how its been used for 100's of years.

My tolerance is high and I need to lower the amount of plant matter intake. I have been using more extract JUST for the decrease in plant matter. But i've been looking for a good tea recipe for a long time now. I have an Aeropress and it is still un-opened! I just wish I could find a recipe that I like enough to quit making excuses and DO it.

What did you use to strain the powder? Did you sip the tea slowly or drink it like a toss-n-wash shot? Curious how the taste was and if you got the same pain relief, and how long effects lasted? But glad it worked, tooth pain is the worst. I have impacted wisdom teeth that I'll be getting removed sometime this year and so I'll be making tea when that time comes.
There was a company that sold 3 gram tea bags, I think they advertised on this forum before the holidays (may be wrong on that). I wonder how the quality of kratom tea bags are (of course I could just make tea like most people but the idea of dropping a tea bag in hot water like any regular old tea seems like a nice intro into kratom tea for someone thinking of making the switch

I strained it through my Melitta coffee filter. I drank it back pretty fast. Added honey. It was much better with the honey in it and kratom tea tastes better than it smells. Effected lasted hours, seems like
maybe longer than taking the powder and it is definitely 'cleaner' feeling. It wasn't actually tooth pain, like a toothache, it was pain from having a tooth extracted.

I just had an impacted wisdom tooth removed a couple months ago and made tea. I didn’t want the raw powder in my mouth next to the open wound, so my normal toss and wash wasn’t happening.
It worked great. I just boiled water in a pot on the stove, threw the powder in, and then let it sit for like 7-8 minutes in a slow rolling boil. Added some fresh lemon and honey. Let it cool and then poured into bottles for later.
It was kind of a pain to make but definitely worth it so you know any bacteria has been killed.

You poured into the bottles after straining first, right? Just trying to picture the steps and the different methods in my head (any teeth related topics makes my mind go into over-thinking anxiety about my upcoming extractions. I'm such a baby when it comes to dentists, I'd rather have kidney stones than deal with teeth pain lol)... Did you use anything specific to strain the powder after boiling it, or would a regular coffee filter work for straining? I'm not a tea maker, clearly
Can I also ask how did the impacted wisdom tooth extraction go for you? Was it simple extraction or any complications? What was the pain like afterwards and if you had pain after the extraction how long did that last? Like could you go to work a day or 2 later? I get severe, severe anxiety about dental work so that's why I'm asking all these questions, so I can get some kind of idea of what I may have to go through (the unknown makes my anxiety worse, so even knowing what others experienced helps ease my mind, if that makes sense lol). Did the tea method work for the pain after the extraction?
My bottom two wisdom teeth are fully impacted (sideways), and one is pushing into the molar next to it and has damaged the molar to the point I need the molar removed as well. I can see the wisdom tooth on the bottom right side of the mouth as it's crown as pushed through the gum and up against the bottom right molar. So, I think I'm having the 2 impacted wisdom teeth removed along with one molar damaged by the impacted wisdom tooth pushing through the gums... *Knock on wood* I haven't had any pain from this yet but I know that it is only a matter of time and want to get it over with before any infection or other issues occur.
I don't have insurance so I'm financing all this, but the monthly payments will be manageable.

Thanks for the info. So happy it seemed to work out well for you, and the tea worked. Was the pain relief from the tea still as good? I've read so many conflicting reports on the pain relief part of tea (besides the red bubble method). Your method is kind of what I envision I would do if I did tea
Are you going to do tea from now on, or go back and forth with toss-n-wash method?

I didn’t strain anything in the tea actually lol. I just threw the powder in and boiled it to sterilize everything. Then poured it into bottles.
For my impacted wisdom tooth, it actually went pretty smooth. Believe it or not, the surgeon had it out in about a minute. I cannot use sedation due to a different health condition, so I only used a basic numbing shot. This guy was a wizard. So fast.
It did hurt for a couple weeks but it wasn’t crazy pain or anything. Just a little sore. They gave me painkillers but I only ended up taking like 2 of them. How long you’re out of commission depends on a lot of factors like how impacted they are, your age, your general health, etc. I’m a middle aged guy with a chronic health problem so it took me a while to bounce back.
I was supposed to get this tooth out decades ago but better late than never. It was causing me pain issues so it was time to yank that sucker out.
I understand the anxiety. If you tell them you are worried about the procedure, they can give you something to seriously calm your nerves. Don’t be afraid to speak up, they deal with nervous patients all the time and have good drugs to get you through lol.
Oddly enough, I have to get the 2 top ones out next. They don’t cause me problems but he recommended getting them out in the coming months just so that they don’t cause future problems. So I have that scheduled for later this month.
You’ll be fine dude! It’s a safe routine procedure. Good luck with it! If you have anymore questions feel free to hit me up!

Normally I just heat about an inch of water to hot in the microwave, pour my powder in and whisk it, put in enough cold water so I don't burn myself and toss it back. So it's not really toss n wash.
I think I'll use my regular method for the most part, it does take half again as much to make a dose of tea. I'll use both methods. The pain relief from tea and ibuprofen seemed to be a little better than taking a hydrocodone.

I am still using the same amount of tea daily now for another 6 weeks. It still works every time. I guess the next update will come when it stops working.
