This is probably a question for our vendors - does anyone know what is a good or acceptable aerobic plate count result on lab testing ? I’ve taken notice of this number more recently and trying to understand what is a an ok number? I’ve seen some batches test 100 or 200 and then other batch tests I’ve seen are in the thousands or even tens of thousands….
Naturally I’m included to think that the higher the plate count # the less clean it is, however from what I’ve read aerobic plate count does not necessarily correlate with a sanitary or unsanitary product. Depending on what is being tested(food, substance, etc.) The plate count may provide more valuable than in some instances than it does others.
Just wondering what the thoughts or understandings are on this.

Re: Lab Testing Question: aerobic plate count
0-500 is "pasteurized kratom" Most likely gamma treated, followed next in line by the rarely used heat treated.
You can have some low untreated kratom but its very rare. Indonesia is prime temperature for growth, and its just a bit more dirty then USA. Go google street view it.
100,000 or 1.0*10^5 is the limit most vendors should be using as its the recommended limit for our products.
Would i consume something that was 200,000 probably, but should everyone probably not. The higher the number within the limit, the quicker it needs to be used up (shelf life). The bacteria/microbial stuff growing usually continues to grow (improper storage speeds that growth up). I dont know what number is has to be, to visibly see growth but your not going to see it in the powder. Ecoli, Salmonella are the two things that can be in powder that will wreck your day/week. High mold and bacteria growth will lead to headaches and maybe non severe bowl movement. E coli and salmonella have to be present to grow you cant have a powder that doesnt have it and then it has it later. It has to be introduced to the powder from cross contamination. So those two are the most important to look out for with kratom.
Pasteurized kratom with those 0-500 numbers have a substantially longer shelf life then untreated kratom. Its why most products in general sold now are "treated/processed". With that said most people can burden higher molds/bacteria numbers fairly well without any visible issues. If you eat a slice of bread the day before it shows mold and a few days after it says it expired you probably had 500,000 mold type thing.
