It looks like they are going after the synthetics and leaving plain leaf alone. Come the end of July, it looks like possessing 7oh could result in criminal charges. I just wanted to put it on folks radar...

Thanks for the heads-up! Not a fan or user of 7-oh myself but there's gonna be a lot of unhappy people.

Maybe this will put a stop to the numerous state ban efforts on plain leaf. Not a user of 7OH myself and it's been sad to see the effect it had on the community.

I hope so. Maybe the ban can be overturned in Kentucky before it goes into effect next year.

Such a shame. 7OH is superior in every way to plain leaf (dirt) kratom.

7OH is kratom. A deal with the devil and a slippery slope, plain leaf is next on the chopping block. Count on it. Mitragynine and 7-hydroxy are inextricably linked. Only a shrewd businessman would beg to differ.

The AKA and their lobbyists in bed with the current administration are culpable.

Appreciate you all flagging this. From the leaf and powder side of things here in Indonesia, honestly feels like a relief to finally see a federal line drawn specifically at synthetic and high-concentration 7-OH instead of lumping the whole plant in. Hoping this gives states like KY solid ground to walk back the plain leaf bans, since the two really aren't the same product. Might see some short-term noise in the supply chain as extract-related demand shifts around, but production here isn't slowing down.

I foresee a massive return to kratom on the horizon. Consumers who’ve left for the synthetics will probably go back to plain kratom. This is great news for a lot of the small batch vendors having slow sales right now. I’ve even noticed an uptick on traffic here over the last week.

i was successful in never trying this stuff. i don’t like government overreach but it sounded kinda dangerous in relation to addiction

I'm fairly certain he was doing extract as that's the only way to have a truly expensive, and prohibitively costly, Kratom habit for someone who was making a good salary.

seems like propaganda. in what world can a grown adult not support a kratom habit

A guy steals credit cards so he can buy $400 of "kratom" because of his addiction? Sounds more like he's addicted to something REALLY bad, like 7OH or fentanyl, & trying to use kratom or something else to ease the symptoms. The story said he was in a rehab center for 9 weeks. That's not going to be from kratom addiction. And, as others said, he may actually have purchased 7OH considering the published cost.

i'm really glad to hear this, 7-oh is the biggest threat to plain leaf kratom at the moment (in my opinion), especially when they are sold over the counter at gas stations and anyone can buy them without knowing what they're getting themselves into. they want to lump regular kratom in with 7-oh to make it sound just as dangerous. this is just another argument in favor of regulation.
