RVA red bali

I recently ordered a split kilo from herbal RVA. One of the things I got was the red bali, batch#111918.
It was one of the most awful tasting strains I've ever had, made me gag every single time. The quality was also not great, usually I start with a 2g dose and that will do me well. But with this stuff I've easily had to take 4-5+ for it to affect me at all.
Everything else I got- green hulu, white hulu, and super green were pretty decent, but nothing spectacular. The white hulu was probably my favorite.
Has anyone else had this experience with the red bali? I realise it's a pretty inexpensive vendor, so I shouldn't expect some crazy high quality stuff, but man was that one of the worst tastes I've ever had. Even just the smell made me gag. I think this was my first time getting red bali at all (other than shitty headshop stuff), but is this something fairly common with that strain?

Anyway, I just made an order with sosa, so looking forward to trying that. What's everyone's favorite strains from them?

What other RVA strains did you get? I just received mine today. I got super green, green hulu, red MD, and Royal bent. Pretty underwhelmed by the super green so far.

I got green hulu, white hulu, and super green. The white and green hulu were okay, super green was meh. Probably won't order from them again anytime soon.

Can't comment on RVA's red bali as I've never tried it, but haven't noticed any red balis from other vendors tasting foul at all. I will say though that some red strains I've gotten from various vendors have tasted really bad. I had a batch of red malay from Canopy one time that smelled and tasted terrible. Didn't make me sick or anything though.

I've got a bag of his Red Bali & really don't like it. Taste? Are we really going there? Kratom tastes awful. It all tastes awful. It makes no difference. If we bought kratom for the taste nobody would buy any.

In my experience most of RVA's strains are below the standard of what's worthwhile. PMD & Red Betuangie are good in fact PMD is my favorite strain, Yellow Indo is sometimes good especially when blended with PMD.

I’ve got some red Bali a batch or 2 ago that’s really really good! However the taste is awful lol. I actually like the taste of some krstom

I must be one of those weirdos who doesn't mind the taste of Kratom either. I toss all sorts of herbs though.
If you really want to make a stink, try tossing some valerian root, smells like foot!

While I can't say I love the taste of Kratom, it's just very neutral to me. The aroma can be pleasant at times, but that is likely a conditioned response

Edit: for sake of staying on topic, I do have some RVA Red Bali but it's about a year old and I haven't yet tried it! I also have the coveted PMD from the good batches last summer. I'll get around to trying it someday I suppose (too many opened strains ATM, need to finish off a few first)

Well, I mean of course no kratom tastes fantastic, but that stuff was seriously horrible. Really hard to get down. I ended up just capping up a bunch just to be able to take it. Or mixing to mellow it a bit. Still a bit disappointed on the quality, but as I said, what can I expect for not willing to spend much? Also it was the only red i had gotten. I went thru sosa this last time, because I'm pretty short on cash still at the moment, but hoping for something a bit better. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality for the price from mystic island when they were in stock, but guess I don't know how common that sort of thing is.

in my experience price does not correlate with quality. I dont think it's right to write off a vendor just because they have a good price. Mmmspeciosa has ounces for $25, doesn't mean they have any better stuff than anyone else. Some strains are just misses for some people. You may have just not got the right strains from RVA. From all the stuff I've got from him, 80% have been better than average, 20% have been meh or nothing. That's a pretty good ratio. It's like that for everyone. If you don't like a strain, I guarantee someone on swap/sell wants something that didn't work for you.
