I wish I had known they were going to label it as this, though, since all my bottles now have "605" on them and it's hard to remember it's really this (who am I kidding? There's NO WAY this old man will remember that). Probably good thing I don't have a membership or I'd end up buying a ton more of something I already have a ton of (I bought so much I have an unopened bag I'll never use - perhaps some day I'll see if I can trade it for another TFH goodness).

Whats your dose size if you dont mind me asking?

1.3 to 1.5g of 3 different strains. Total dose size about 4.5g. I do that 3 times a day.

However, with proclaimed fire batches, I will take an initial 2g of that leaf alone and see what's up.

I bought some of this strain back when it first became available, it worked well just once then pooped out. I've tried it again maybe 10 times & got absolutely no effects. I put it on the shelf & forgot about it. As time went on I was really longing for a good red, started digging through my collection, & found this strain. I brought it up from the catacombs, tried it, & ... nothing. I left it out for my son who, it turns out, loves it. Now there's only about 150g left from the kilo & I decided to try it again last night. Nothing! Tried it again this morning - EEEYYYOW! That was amazing! It's a peek-a-boo strain. I'm going to be competing with my son for the remainder of this bag for sure.

Unfortunately, we share a super similar story. Peak-a-boo is a clever term but it is more 'boo' than peak.

Until and unless we ever get real, scientific studies about kratom usage (it won't happen in my lifetime) it is maddening that these effects take place (although there is a certain part of me that actually likes it - it's a bit like magic and, when it works, nothing can come close).

I still think - and only a real study would convince me otherwise - that a varying effect has a LOT more to do with other aspects of your body than the kratom does. IOW (just to take one example) if you could somehow get a reading on your bowels condition you might very well know how effective any particular dose of kratom would be. The best evidence about this is that *most* people get the best kratom experience the first one of the day (which is when *most* people have clean bowels and empty stomach). People who say "no, I know my body conditions are exactly the same and yet the exact same batch of kratom - not taken too often, mind you - works very very differently on me" amuse me no end, because there is SO much scientific evidence to show that people are VERY poor scientists and even those who journal what they eat, for example, are VERY far off from what they actually consume (which is why those kind of diet trials where the food isn't controlled by the experimenter are pretty worthless).

But, as I said, I'll never know - perhaps my grandkids will be around when the real studies are done. In the meantime it's certainly a wild ride, though.

I've pondered the exact same things now for years. All it would take is one billionaire deciding to fund the research for the good of humanity(= the good of kratom fans). I bet it's something really simple. Vendors would probably hate the discovery, right? People wouldn't buy anywhere near as many different strains as they do now because every strain would work great! Think about that. Somebody with an analytical mind & experience with biochemistry research using human trials could likely design some experiments that we kratomites could test out & report the results.

It seems to me there's only a handful of possible reasons for this good effect variance. I've had strains that worked great for 3 straight years dosing twice a day, every day. Then when I tried a different strain, then went back to the great one, it never worked for me again. Isn't that weird? It's also indicative of something. It can't be just tolerance. Tolerance doesn't suddenly appear 3 years later all at once. Tolerance ramps up gradually. There's clues all over our daily experiences, we just have to recognize them, log them, analyze them, then have others test them out.

Not to get too much OT here, but for a long time I've thought it had to do with the two basic factors of having clean bowels (Mr. B first started me thinking and researching this) and an empty stomach. But in the last few months I'm not so sure now - I've had some very good experiences with neither of those things being true, and many "meh" ones with them both being true.

I think *most* folks would agree the very first dose of the day is the best - but what does that mean? Does it mean that it works best after a six to eight hour break? Because that isn't always the case, either - so there are mechanisms going on that would definitely take some studies to pin down.

But don't fool yourself - the only folks who will ever do these studies are either those in the "pure" science field (namely, universities) or those with skin in the game (so, big Pharma perhaps - problem is I can't see how they could possibly make any money out of this, but there are far smarter people than I am out there). And, let's face it, nowadays even universities are seldom in it without some ability to profit.

In the meantime I sure enjoy trying to figure this out <g>.

Texas Family Harvest. An invite only group known for taking feedback and performing various esoteric studies of their kratom, and having a potent, reliable, and clean feeling.

They often seek people to sample and rate kratoms they are testing. Best way to get your foot in the door to membership is to test for them. Tests take about 1 minute just to give number scores and then you can make comments, the more detailed and valuable, the better.
