Hawaii Kratom Review
"There's a sucker born every minute."
- P.T. Barnum -
I'm probably the only one who bit the bait on this one, but yes, I bought the overpriced Hawaiin Kratom. The allure of magical "Hawaiian Grown" kratom was too strong for my kratom-crazed brain. I bit the bullet and bought the Green and Platinum Cures. It is "OK" kratom. It's not the worst, but it's not the best leaf I've ever had. And it certainly wasn't worth the exorbitant price I paid. The powder is dark green and by that, I mean like a forest green. No clumping or fresh texture, and little to no fresh scent like I experience from the "good stuff."
I'm only going to describe one burn because there was no difference in effects between the Platinum and Green cures. Takes about 30 minutes to kick in and when it does it's mildly refreshing and grows into a solid burn for about 1.5 hours. Very short legs and moderate effects. If there is something magical about kratom grown on Hawaiian soil, this kratom doesn't have it. I'm sad because I had high hopes. Perhaps there is really good kratom being grown in Hawaii but you won't get it here. They were nice enough to include a sample of their tea bags which was about as "OK" as the leaf.
So, feel free to have a few snickers at my expense. But know that this leaf is a solid pass for me. However, I do remain hopeful that there is great kratom being grown in Hawaii and other parts of the states. You just won't find it here!

Re: Hawaii Kratom Review
hah - that was my intuition about this, but i'm glad that someone volunteered to be a tester. Now we know for sure. it's tempting to try an overpriced strain once, just to see. I confess that (because i liked a sample that i got from the trading post) i bought a small order from dg botanicals. I suspect that what i'm hearing will be true - that it's very good, but not 'better' than the best vendors here and on mewe. but i just had to try. some of this comes down to insatiable curiosity....

I was going to get the red one and/or the Ethe gold one. It's just a shame it's gotta be like this. You'd think it would be a great place to grow kratom climate-wise. Probably complete bullshit and it's just some dude who got some of some strain or other and is filling up containers that say. "Red Cure 40 grams" or something. Hahahaha!
Thanks for sacrificing to find out for us all.

Since "there's a sucker born every minute" there's always the Trading Post <g>.

Biggest they sell their TOUCHED BY GOD kratom is 40 grams. If you want 500 grams, you're going to be buying 12 thirty plus dollar forty gram cylinders.Kelleytoons wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 5:13 pm Since "there's a sucker born every minute" there's always the Trading Post <g>.
It's Hawaii though, not an impossible to believe premise, Hawaiian kratom extraordinaire...another dream dashed. As you are wont to say <sigh>

Re: Hawaii Kratom Review
They obviously did no market research. So either the pricing was pure ignorance from some clueless schmo packing plastic containers in his garage, or an attempt to portray it as super exclusive. Either scenario is unfortunate. It would be nice to see if anyone else tried it. After all, the leaf is fickle when it comes to individual tastesmivanqua wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 6:06 pmBiggest they sell their TOUCHED BY GOD kratom is 40 grams. The problem with that premise is that serious vendors, like TFH, do blind testing to make sure their stuff DOES appeal to a very broad sample. Not to say there still isn't some very distinctive hits or misses, but at 10x the pricing of even the very best small vendors this Hawaii stuff had damn well better hit like a cyclone for EVERYONE (or, I guess, your money back).dantheleafman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 12:31 am the leaf is fickle when it comes to individual tastes
But - honestly even *I* wouldn't have paid that much (my kratom stash is just fine, thank you - I suppose if this stuff hit like coke or some very high end grass it *might* be worth a try :>).

"Hey buddy, got any grass?"
I haven't heard anyone else use it in a very long time. Probably my dead for a decade hippie friend. He was a real hippie, like h² though, an OOOOOOLD school head. He was a teenager during the Summer of Love. The real deal.

I’m sure you saved many people from committing the same mistake by posting this. Not sure if it’s the same vendor you tried but I personally could NEVER justify paying 20 dollars for 40g of Kratom. Absolute insanity.

Well, I AM very, very old. I was, ahem, partaking in the 60's (the old "if you remember the 60's you weren't living through them" is pretty appropriate). I even, let us say, cultivated some very interesting plants (however it's very true that anyone who grows will tend to get more interested in the growing than the consuming. Quite a hobby).mivanqua wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 8:38 am My MAN! This is so cool and makes my day. I call it grass too.

My understanding, however, is that modern weed is SO much more powerful than what I was used to 50 years ago. It makes me want to at least sample it, but alas, nowadays I am far too conscious of the law than I was back then (in the state I was in back then it was a felony for a 1 ounce POSSESSION, let alone what I was doing. But, hell, I was young and didn't think of consequences. Now that I have so little life left I am much more aware of losing even a tiny precious amount to the legal system).

Re: Hawaii Kratom Review
For me, the lure of ridiculously overpriced kratom is high. When I first started there was the insanely priced Kratora. Now, there is Jaya in Portland, where a split kilo goes for $200. I've heard the Jaya is good, but I cannot be induced to part with that much money given the incredible stuff that is currently available from the usual sources.

I can't do the "new" weed. THC is too high and gives me extreme anxiety. I miss "grass"!Kelleytoons wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 10:23 amWell, I AM very, very old. I am much younger than probably 80% of y’all but I strongly agree on the “grass” statement. Any dispo weed is way too strong for me, homegrown is the only thing I will touch. This dispo shit gave me panic attacks.
