Taper Tips and Advice
So 4 days ago I was practically forced to go from a 28-30g per day habit with kratom down to about 15 abruptly. I've done about 30gpd for about 3 years, and more previous to that. I've had some pretty rough withdrawal effects from cutting it essentially in half, including minimal sleep, some restless legs and pretty rough anxiety as well. I was wondering if anyone has done anything similar to this and how long does it typically take for your body to adjust to cutting it in half. Also what supplements did you take to help with the symptoms. I'm assuming I am withdrawling. I also have cut my nicotine usage in half as well at the same exact time. Sort of desperate for any help or advice. Is it normal for someone to have this severe withdrawal symptoms after cutting intake in half abruptly?

Is this a choice or a necessity? You should definitely give up smoking, that's a completely bullshit habit, but kratom is good for you.

I’ve recently started taking GABA supplements. (Gamma-aminobutyric acid, you can buy it OTC in the vitamin section). Two 750mg tablets a day, about 7 - 9 hours apart. I’ve noticed since that, my “low dose” days are better. But the most I’ve ever gone being uncomfortable, even before that, was about 2 days. My max is usually 10-12g a day.
It could also be compounded with the cut in nicotine as well. Are you able/wiling to supplement a bit with the nicotine gum? My dad swore by that when he was quitting.

A little bit of both. I don't smoke, I used Swedish snus. But I switched from those to zyn nicotine pouches which have half as much nicotine in them.

Re: Taper Tips and Advice
i have been tapering, and have gotten from the mid to upper 20's down to 6g in a few weeks.
I recognize how subjective this all is, and i also recognize that I don't truly know the answers to several questions yet.
I have found javanica and hirsuta to be indispensable for going several hours without, at the point where i am feeling symptoms. The alkaloids in them brings me back to ground 0, and in some cases a bit above. I now have my bag of hirsuta at the ready for when i wake up at about 3 in the morning - a dose of it then will allow me to get back to sleep, and also not require me to dose on awakening.
Javanica is a bit faster, and provides the same service during the day.
I cannot say at this point whether the alkaloids in these do add some to the threshold, or are truly at 0. There haven't been any real tests on this, as far as I know. I may be fooling myself. From previous experience, i don't think so, but i've learned not to make broad objective statements about kratom use, and thresholds/tapering.
I also really like using s&v. The same advisory applies to it, but perhaps more strongly, since oi think that s&v has less mit, and a different mix of alkaloids, than kratom, but has some of them. So, although i haven't been adding this to my daily total, i suspect that the 6g i state above is a bit low.
Another comment on withdrawal symptoms, before i get to the next tool that i find helpful. I find the symptoms to have a psychological component, and a physical component, and they both feed on each other in a kind of feedback loop. I have found one tool that seems to work fantastically on the psychological component - and that it can delay my next kratom dose by quite a bit. I have been dosing amanita mushrooms. I wish i had discovered these much sooner.
I think that some people can taper way more easily than others. I have found it quite difficult. I obviously can't promise results with the tools above, but i think that they might be worth a try.

Could you elaborate on this? Dose, effect, prep? I have some laying around.

Re: Taper Tips and Advice
Quitting nicotine was extremely tough. I never smoked, but I did use other forms like chewing tobacco. The cravings were a mental game, but the withdrawal headaches were very real. I found slowly tapering off the chew and using those fake chew (no nictone, no tobacco) substitutes to be the best way for me. I'm now completely tobacco and nicotine free.
I'm a huge proponent of tapering, whether it's nicotine or anything else. So, definitely try the tapering.
