USPS ISSUES

Post by KratomAdvocateMO »

My package has been stuck "in transit, arriving late" for an entire week now. Should I he concerned that it's lost? Out of 6 years I've only had one arrive late and it came after a couple days late. It's well past a couple days late.

Nationwide shipping issues. USPS has been consolidating their sorting facilities so the ones left now have more load. They also have installed new equipment that sorts more of the mail for them which has taken away jobs which some workers are probably making it more trouble because took our jobs. Priority is also now at the same level of "priority" as ground shipments causing delays with priority. Texas has been really bad for awhile now.

so covid significantly messed up USPS, as more and more folks ordered online to avoid stores etc..

fast forward until covid end and amazon worked a deal with usps to deliver on sundays for their packages etc...

compounded with what jfish said.

USPS hasn't ever caught up at this point. sad

USPS is becoming more and more of a mess, as is the whole USA, and COVID-19 was used to do a piece of it.

UPS has ALWAYS been somewhat of a mess, and now it's even worse.

I could go on. Anymore, when I order something I'm just happy if it gets here. The days of "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night..." are long gone, I'm afraid.

I was notified yesterday that a very expensive purchase I made was shipping. Today, when checking the UPS tracking number, it says "We’re sorry your package was delayed. We are adjusting delivery plans as quickly as possible."

Sigh... who knows? At least there's still good kratom!

A couple weeks ago, I ordered something on Amazon and the seller used USPS. For some reason it made it to my city quickly but then it was stuck in a processing center without the tracking ever updating for over a week. Amazon thankfully lets you cancel orders if shipping is taking too long, so I got a refund. Who knows how long it would have sat there.

That happened to me. Come to find out, they had to replace the label for some reason, which gave it a new tracking #, but nobody updated me on the new #. I ordered a replacement in the meantime, and guess what showed up the exact same day as my replacement order…..!!

Be careful. If the package shows up…they’ll know. Then they’ll charge you if you don’t end up sending it back.

Speaking of Amazon (the bastards), I just noticed today that if you click on 'Buy Again' to get something you've bought
before, there are no longer links to your previous invoice(s). You can't compare previous prices to what the
same thing is selling for now. Nice obfuscation job, Amazon.

I ordered a auto wheel scrubber from Amazon. I'm as west as west gets for the US (Hawaii) and usually mail takes an extra day or two to get here.

So I'm waiting and it doesn't arrive. Tracking says it went to the east coast for a vacay?! It finally arrived after a month, and in the meantime Amazon told me it was lost and cancelled the order and put in a new one, which took several days to get here. Two more weeks, then the original arrived!

This east coast vacay happened once before with an item. I'm just happy Prime freeships to Hawaii, we get shafted on shipping for a lot of stuff. So does Alaska, but military overseas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa have it worst. PO Boxes have diff rules altogether. (They used to be able to be used as addresses on drivers' licenses).

So another weird thing with Amazon... my dad ordered a case of paper, which was suspect cause a huge box of heavy paper is usually not able to be shipped here... but then... they sent us a huge microwave?! So paper was cancelled and we got to keep the microwave.

If you wanna hear Amazon stories, Brave777 has some, he worked in an Amazon facility. Hope he comes around soon, he's an OG member.

Yeah, I never use the Buy Again button. I always manually go to the page and add item to cart.

I always wondered, when you buy stuff online and live in Hawaii, is the shipping cost always insane? Like, let's say I bought something that's $50... what would the shipping be?

And what about when you go to the store to purchase something? Is there a whole bunch of markup? I looked into moving to Alaska for a while until I learned that everything is super expensive since it has to be mostly flown or boated in. Especially if you live on one of the islands.

Some companies do ship free, some normal price, some extra, some jacked up a ton, some not at all. Amazon prime is still free for now. For places that don't ship here, like Ikea, there are companies that will receive it with a mainland address and ship it to their facility here for pickup. Mostly big things, but iirc, there was a local pop up store that would do that with any sized product. Wonder what happened to them?

Most prices are comparable to expensive mainland cities, like up to NYC and San Fran, though some not so much. Local items might be high to support local and using the latest tech or are handpicked organic, or can be cheap cause it's grown here in abundance. But it is a very expensive place to live overall, there have been several waves of Hawaiians who move to Vegas. I went to school for a bit there, and they are very Hawaii-friendly... Hawaiians call Vegas the Ninth Isle and love to go there.

There seem to be more delays mentioned in Reddit posts associated with certain hubs: Chicago and Miami are the ones that come to mind.
I ordinarily do a paid upgrade to USPS if a merchant offers one because shipments used to arrive quicker than when I choose UPS, but that doesn't seem to be true in all localities.
I live in CT and am still getting packages from the Greater New York Region states as quickly as I ever did, probably since they don't involve hubs.
