Anyone here a long time user and have surgery? Did you stop using before?
I have something going on next month and I've been tapering down these last two weeks
ahead of it. My first pre-surgical appointment is Thursday and my dose is down to a quarter gram.
I haven't taken a break in 9 years, so this is different. I'm glad my doses always stayed low, so
tapering wasn't an issue at all. What's really weird is, besides my hips aching like mad, I feel heavier. Like gravity has changed a little.
I have had several pretty major surgeries in the last several years and been taking kratom for prob close to 10 years and no problems as far as any reactions or anything. I did cut back to twice a day from 3 times a day starting like a week/10days before couple of them though, feel like it helped pain after surgery when I returned to my usual 3 a day.
Just my experience though, everyone is different.

But you didn't stop completely? Did you tell your anesthesiologist?
No. I did not tell any doctors about kratom. I just cut down one dose a day starting like a week out, and went back to three times a day when I got home. I did not lower dose just went from 3 times a day to 2 with the same amount, and I have very large doses, 4 tsp 3 times a day. I've had that same dose since when this was a sub on reddit.

H², I had a total hip replacement 3 years ago. I don't tell doctors about using kratom, but I did stop for a week before the surgery - general anesthesia is serious bidness, and knowing how kratom doesn't play nice with MOST things that "alter your consciousness", I didn't want to risk it.
I eased back into it a few days after the surgery, since I was taking 5mg of oxycodone for pain, particularly at night for a few days.
Your dose is so small it may not matter, but I'd suggest stopping maybe 3 days pre-surgery, just to be safe. Kratom is unpredictable, and it works differently on different people.
Please let us know when your surgery date is when it gets close - I'm a praying kind of a guy!

Aww thank you. <3 I'm scheduled for March 24th. I suppose that could change but it probably won't.
It's a pretty non-invasive surgery, as surgeries go, but it's the general anesthesia I'm concerned about. I thought maybe with this it would
just be heavy sedation, but no.

Gotcha, putting the date in my phone calendar Thanks!
Broken ankle. Drs. knew I used kratom. Didn't take kratom in the hospital, didn't think of it, actually. I was pain free with no medication, but at night for a few weeks after I got home, I used a tiny crumble of 7oh kratom extract and it was very relaxing, I could go to sleep very easily vs lying there having an annoying zing-ish feeling in my foot. I caution the usage of 7oh, as it's very strong when used in the whole tablet, comparable to oxycodone in my opinion. And your kratom tolerance will take a long, long time to get back.
When my bones actually knit and the pins set, after a few months of physical therapy, then I got pain. Not sore sore, but an irritating pain, which I complain about, but isn't too bad. Kratom helps a lot with the minor pain, and so does walking.
Hiya Hippie! Hope all goes well m'dear! Keep me in the loop!
I can't believe how much pain even small amounts of kratom was covering until I quit taking it. lol
I've added back in a very small dose now and then, just over a third of a gram, just to take the edge off
but I will quit that in the few days leading up to surgery.

hey there, hippie I just got General Anaesthesia a month ago for Prostate surgery... I was also, concerned and tapered down in weeks prior... But after reading MANY posts on Reddit, from people doing HUGE # amounts of kratom, opioids, all kind of stuff and then getting in like car accident/ emergency Surgery - I realized this happens all the time. Millions of ppl in USA now use Kratom and 7OH. ~ My Anaesthesiologist was very nice - everything went fantastic! Not a worry!
Banned on Reddit: KratomVendors is now on SAIDIT!
Please check out my current Auctions/ Sales on MM Trading Post! I'm also on MeWe/ Saidit/ Reddit. Thanks!

Good, thank you, Ballz. I'm currently taking less than a quarter gram a few times a day, I'm not concerned at this point.
I need to stop watching the surgery and anesthesia reels that are coming through my FB feed the last few days though. Yikes!
Everything went great, minimal post-surgical pain.
Everything went great except for the crackhead that decided to scale the bridge across
the Columbia and tie his bike to the flag flying on top about 3 minutes before we
got to the bridge on the way home. Had to go around to the north bridge, traffic was
horrendous and it took about an hour instead of about 7 minutes.
Luckily I was on enough pain meds to find it entertaining instead of infuriating.
This is crackhead on his way back down the bridge to the multiple police
cars waiting for him.

Your first paragraph prompted this question: have you (or anyone else) developed an intolerance to weed while on kratom? I swear it just makes me so off now. Spacey, lose train of thought, unable to engage, self-conscious. Like, weed is known to do this, but I didn’t feel like I experienced it this way when I was younger.
