RVA's Red Jong Kong 070118 - I'm smitten
Had 70118 Red Jong Kong very early this morning for the 1st time-
It's a very well rounded red with a kind of "light revealing, return to self" kind of vibe to it. You could say it "has heart", or it washed the smog residue off of my own before finally going to bed.
So I picked up unexpected empathy and broad sense of appreciation- magic that overlaps red and green territory.
Perceptions may be relative to the kind of relief needed, and how much it takes to get the job done. It's a theory.
Yea, I think RJK is kinda special. Keep in mind this is a first try, so unofficial but also 20% lower dose (to avoid potential un-wanteds)
Wasn't necessary- this was exceptionally clean and clear, but without typical trade offs imo. I'm not experiencing pain at this time so described "relief" is what I sensed / perceived.
"relief" was like.. " slight numb settling on skin before seeping up stronger from underneath to join itself half way, sort of hugging me in the process."
Sure that might sound like any old scrapings from under the desk but few go This far, and never on a reduced dose:
"it's like free falling in slow motion,.. landing in a humongous down pillow that's as thick as a house."
- as journaled "live session" before heading to bed- I almost forgot why I ordered this. The ever evasive.. Sleep.
I would have been happy with conventional, but effective sedation, like Red Ketapang- never mind some short term cognitive breakdown (when I should be sleeping anyway).
But instead of feeling "sedated", it was more like "Sleep Appeal" by way of relaxation and a deep sense of contentment, confidence and appreciation. (Heart!)
It was a good choice for my needs and more besides. Versatile- leaning slow. I think prolly good for daytime if mixed with something vibrant.

Oohhh Nice review!
I have some RVA Red Jongkong from last year and it looks and smells and tastes like a bent. Does yours?

Nice review Transformato thanks. Funny about bedtime strains. I dont know if anyone else experiences a kind of lucid dreaming with a red type night strain, some yellows hit me like that as well. There is the relaxing feeling of well being drifting toward sedation but just enough energy to keep the mind thoughtful as I go under the ether. My dreams have a narrative cohesion, even if not much happens, and are more visual than on a normal night. I attribute this to the bedtime leaf. There are also the nights when I cant sleep, feel a discomfort and restlessness, usually Ive skipped the PM dose and decide to take it in the middle of the night. And sure enough the restlessness fades away and I have a very visual few hours sleep before the sun rises. And I'm looking for some white leaf. Anyone else with similar experience?

This RJK is a dark shade of camel. Camel in the shade. Tilt the hue very slightly toward red and that's it. Perfect.herbalhippie wrote:Oohhh Nice review!

Since you asked, I compared it to Royal Bent, the only Red bent I've had, near a window / natural light and they looked surprisingly similar but under lights at night the Royal is darker and I think a bit more reddish.
The Jong appears a bit more "ashy" and it does not have a strong or distinct smell or that unique sweetness to the taste.
I love the taste of Royal Bent but my 120517 Royal was kind of disappointing.

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. It's happened before I found kratom but very rarely. It still doesn't happen often. Happened more when I included "slow green" strains in my night time mix. Now that I'm a year into this, the greens usually keep me up all night but I do like mixing a green bali with some reds before taking long walks in the evening if I do it early enough.swablero wrote:Nice review Transformato thanks. They've ranged from mystical to very emotional. And since I have a nack for dream interpretation, if I write down an account of what happened in the dream (try it), even really brief, short scenes, I'm pretty stunned at what I realize that I've really been up to / how I'm feeling about certain things. (it can hurt or totally amaze you) It's the stuff you don't acknowledge, don't know what to do with or think nobody will understand is what I find. Sometimes communication that "isn't supposed to happen" takes place. There are no such limits under the surface.
