TFH Vacuum Packaging

Post by heme2016 »

Ok, this is probably one of the weirder things to review a vendor on - but I really like the TFH packaging. They are the only vendor I've ordered from that "vacuum packs" their leaf such that there is no detectable airspace in the sealed package. Probably not a consideration for most people, but if you intend to stash away a sealed package for a long time, this has two advantages:

- the package takes up the smallest possible amount of space for a given weight of kratom.
- the kratom is protected from oxygen and atmospheric moisture. Not sure how much that matters, but it can't hurt.

They are also heavy duty bags that reseal reliably - not always a given. And the metal foil coating on the 250 gram bags is quite pretty. I particularly liked the copper-coated ones. Pardon my packaging nerd obsession. :)

Oh, and the kratom is mighty fine too. More on that later...

I have been admiring the 250g bags for a few days now. So pretty and they look so good with the labels.

Yeah, that vacuum sealing is INTENSE. As someone else notes, WEIGH YOUR DOSES when using TFH kratom. The first time I got a dose out of a new bag I scooped out what looked like the usual 1.5 grams +/- and put it on the scale and it weighed 2.4

Glad you dipped your toe in the water! TFH reds have been epic.

I too am impressed with the packaging, professionally done and impressively designed. For folks new to kratom sealed like this: if you toss and wash, remember to break up the powder really well before consumption! I thought I had done a good enough job but it was still a little clumpy, not easy to swallow!

No doubt the vacuum packed bags are some of the best I’ve seen. Once I finish a bag and stop crying because it’s gone, I’ll dump some of the smaller batch vendors kratom into those TFH bags and mark them with a Sharpie so I know what’s in them. There are some really great small batch vendors that are still using clear zip lock bags and some just don’t hold up well and I’d hate to lose any of that fantastic green powder. I currently have 6 TFH bags that have other vendors kratom in them. :D
Chris and Angie are doing it right and I feel honored to have found them. Save those TFH bags and thank me later. :P

What an excellent idea! I can't seem to find the larger bags I want on Amazon. Now I know what I can do with the empty TFH bags that I couldn't bring myself to throw away. Thanks! :D

I keep all of the decent bags, too. When Socal started using the bags that lost their zip, it was a sad day. Ever since then, I've been reusing old ones. TFH bags are the shit, and they'll never be tossed. I don't even want to think about them being empty, though!

There are several vendors out there with great reusable bags. But I’ve never seen vacuum sealed bags like TFH. I assume that’s to save space for storage and also to help prevent oxidation. I can get several reuses out of the TFH bags. Lucky Herbals has great bags too that I’ve reused multiple times without problems. Benni Botanicals too. They are about 50/50 as far as reusable. They hold up very well the first time. I can often reuse half of them them one more time before the zipper breaks. I’ve got multiple uses out of Sacred Son and Rhino Remedies bags too. Virtue Kratom has odd flimsy foil bags that I haven’t seen anyone else use, but near indestructible zippers. So I can reuse them too, but the bags themself seem to tear after a while. Even Happy Hippo has bags that can be reused. But I feel they put far more money and focus into their bags and marketing than they do the quality of their kratom. It really sucks when a zipper breaks and you are only half way through a bag. So keeping spares on hand is a great idea.

I can't say the TFH bags seem any different than other ones....Are they stronger or something that isn't visible to the eye ? They literally seem exactly like the same heavy duty colored plastic ziplocks that everyone uses, then again I've only been opening/closing them for 3 days here ha-ha.

TFH is the real mvp for the vacuum packaging I have plenty stocked up and love that my Kratom is going to be kept fresh for a long period of time.

TFH isn't the only vendor who uses durable, reliably resealable bags, but they are one of only a few. And some vendors who previously used high-quality bags have started cheaping out.

TFH is, so far as I know, the only vendor to vacuum-pack their kratom. A minor point, compared to the quality of the leaf, but sufficiently unusual that I thought it worth mentioning.

SOSA has vacuumed seal now but good luck trying to order that anymore.

I've only had one bag (of a dozen or so) have the little "zipper" part give out, and one vendor who had sealed plastic bags with no zipper. So I just figured those big ziplock type bags are 1) standard, 2) all the same. I can say TFH was the first vendor to send me vacuum sealed bags, though I don't really know if that means anything other than I have to shake/mix/fluff it myself before use ha-ha. Oh, and 7ohm with the strange recycled paper ziplocks, those are kind of noisy to open/close, but so far seem to be holding up just fine.

ANY & ALL packaging is just for transport If you don't have a screw top tupperwear / rubbermaid container
you are 1 step away from disaster !! Go to the dollar store & get a semi permanent bowl with lid

That takes up way too much space if you collect a lot of batches.

Weird, though, some TFH are vac sealed and some not.

Just another way TFH stands out from the rest.

I can see how that might be a preferable solution for some, but I'm FAR more likely to drop a tupperware while prying the lid off than I am unsealing a well-made bag. The bag was made for this (and for long-term sealing of thousands of other herbal/food products). So I don't know exactly what this "1 step" is. A large bag slipped from between my fingers once but it landed squarely on its gusseted bottom - no harm done. This is why I order and fill the smaller mylar zip bags so that I don't have to keep opening the large bag every day several times a day. Doing that with a big-mouth tupperware bowl just exposes the powder more frequently and threatens to make an expensive mess on the floor. :(

At one point, gumby said that the vacuum sealer was broken this last round, so some left sans sealing.
