I accidentally cut someone off on the freeway and they threw stuff at my car! I kept trying to change lanes and they kept getting in front of me and cutting me off. At one point I was boxed in and they hit my car several times. I have a chip in my windshield, chips and dents in my hood. It’s my first brand new car, a 2022 Toyota Corolla hybrid I got in July. I am so upset and saddened by the destruction to my car already. I was unable to get a clear pic of the license plate so I’m SOL.
Does anyone know what something like this would cost to fix? TIA!

I’m so very sorry that this happened to you. Thank goodness your safe. If they were willing to hit your car there’s no telling what else they could do. Have you reported it to the police ? I think that’s your first step. Then call your insurance company. If you have full coverage it might be covered.
I don’t know what’s wrong with people anymore. The world has gotten to be a very scary place. People have no tolerance for other people or respect for basic human life. Kindness has become the exception instead of the norm. There is no accountability anymore or consequences for these peoples actions. I know that you worked very hard for that car and you have every right to be proud of it. I truly hope things work out for you and that karma doles out the justice that we can’t

Thank you so much, your kind comment means a lot to me. I didn’t think to call the police until after the incident occurred and figured there was nothing they could due because I don’t have the plate number.
After your comment, I think that I will still make a report and call my insurance. I do have full coverage and my deductible is likely less than the cost of repairs.
I agree that this world is now a scary place. No one likes being cut off, but it was truly my mistake and it gave them no right to intentionally damage my car. I do believe in karma, which will come right around to them.

Omg, so sorry, I can't even imagine how scary that was and how upsetting it is. I've just been thinking about how scary the world is, I just thought I need to take a walk but next thought was I can't because it's dark outside and even if it weren't dark it's scary, so many people going missing and/or being found dead. I know I shouldn't live like nothing is safe but it's true. I'm just lucky so far. For many years I placed myself in so many situations and circumstances and did so many things I really shouldn't still be here, and things seem much worse now. I'm glad you're safe and hope you get your car fixed. My last car was damaged by Hurricane Wilma and they're like humans, you can have repairs and surgery but it's never the same.

Take this opportunity to buy a dash cam. It might even help lower your insurance rate. People are absolutely crazy out there and a lot of them have guns here in the US.

Nique Kristan, I'm glad you're OK - there ARE crazy people out there, and I'm glad it was "just" your car!

I had something similar happen to me many years ago (minus the damage), when I was living in Southern California. I had to get over fast to a freeway exit, and some jerk felt I'd cut him off (it wasn't that close) and followed me to the off-ramp, then into town, a couple of feet behind me, blasting his horn for blocks.

He had an out-of-state license plate, and he obviously hadn't intended to take that exit, so I figured he didn't know the city - and I led him straight into the local police station parking lot

He took off in a hurry, but it was an eye opener.

I definitely hope you've called the police, and I suspect that your insurance should cover a lot of the damage. It especially sucks with your first brand new car!!

1st thing - you're unharmed!
2nd - file police report, you can just go to the station and someone will take a report.
3rd - get in touch with insurance.
4th - remember to call 911 (speaker) in a similar situation.
5th - carry pepper spray or a stun gun if legal and you feel you wouldn't have it wrestled away and used against you. I carry a pry bar on the floor of my front passenger side, for utility as well as protection.

I’ve been wondering about you and how your feeling. Any PTSD ? Please monitor yourself for signs and symptoms of depression. Something like this can really affect your sense of place in the world. But you’ve gotten some really great advice from everyone. I especially like the dashcam idea.
So take action. Fight back. Please don’t let that asshole turn you into a victim. We are here for you so keep us posted

Thank you so much. I actually live in Southern California! I cannot believe they followed you off of the freeway- that is absolutely terrifying! That was really smart of you to lead him to the police station. A family friend is going to help me out at a price lower than my deductible. I appreciate your advice!

Wow, I find it incredibly touching and considerate for you to follow up with me. I have been more hyper vigilant while driving, especially on the freeway, but I don’t think that it’s manifested into PTSD. Maybe some anxiety. I agree that the dash cam is a great idea. Yes, thanks, insurance covered it minus a hefty deductible and loss of value, and maybe only because I took photos of the roof on top of it after the storm!
