[JKratom]

I stumbled across an article that was written on Philly's news page ( I believe, I'm not from philly). It stated that heavy metals have been found in kratom. In the picture it had a couple different bags from different companies including socal. They also claimed 27 deaths have been linked to kratom. What they all fail to mention is the other heavy and fatal drugs the people who have passed were taking along with kratom. Can see a ban in PA coming soon with all of this propaganda.... What's everyones thoughts on this?

It's the usual bullshit: outright lies, half truths, and got the names spelled right. Gottlieb's done this before, and that's about the size of it. Though I do have to wonder why he's ramping up his game -now-, exactly. This never happens without a specific goal behind it, so I'm kind of wondering what's in the patent pipeline involving synthetic kratom alkaloids that's about to hit some FDA approval process milestone...

As whiffypants noted, the Philly article is based on the FDA press release from yesterday. It has also been picked up by AP and Reuters, so expect to see the story, or versions of it, everywhere. The photo used is from a previous article from August 16 and has nothing at all to do with this story.

The same author has another story, also dated November 27, warning of lead being contained in common spices including chili powder, red pepper, cumin, coriander, anise, turmeric, and vanilla. It's all part of the fear based headlines common today online to get more clicks. Like the old news adage 'if it bleeds it leads.'

I doubt anyone has died from kratom, but it will continue to be reported anyway. The truth is everything will harm you. One day coffee is bad, next it extends life. One day sugar is good, next day it's deadly. Every day people die from driving, walking down the street, taking aspirin. Just getting out of bed in the morning is hazardous to our health. It's a wonder we make it to the next day.

Personally I am going to be proactive and reduce my kratom usage from 5 times to 4 times daily to lessen my alleged heavy metal exposure. I just hope the flu shot I got doesn't kill me, or that I don't get Toxoplasmosis from emptying my cat's litter.

We need everyone out there fighting disinfo. Every article you see that you can comment on dispute them. Show proof if available. We can win this with truth on our side. We just have to expose the propaganda and open people's eyes.

You are definitely on to something there. Around the time of the first push to ban Kratom by the FDA the pharmaceutical industry was using kratom alkaloids to manufacture synthetic drugs. See: Big Pharma’s Patents on Kratom Alkaloids Expose Real Reason DEA is Banning this Plant.

And more recently, coinciding with the current anti-kratom offensive, a new synthetic opioid, Dsuvia, has been approved, whose side effects include " extreme tiredness, breathing problems, coma and death." See: FDA approves opioid painkiller 1,000 times stronger than morphine.

At one time the FDA was a well respected agency not only in the U.S. but around the world, known to protect the consumer, and now it is an unscrupulous, corrupt agency protecting and advancing the agenda of the pharmaceutical industry.

Agreed. It's a complete embarrassment, and a perverted caricature of what that agency was originally created to do and be. Same goes for DEA, CDC and NIH, as far as I'm concerned: they've all soiled themselves with the whole "War on Drugs" and how they have used obvious, provable untruths to demonize kratom when so many people are using it to get off drugs (prescribed or not) and back into productive living.

Someone called me about this BS too!

I have not found any information on the levels they are claiming as "unusually high". And what they aren't mentioning is that there are heavy metals in many common food items like salmon, rice, certain vegetables. I want a side by side comparison so I know what they are claiming. Fucking FDA bullshit, they never give out the important information, just the crap to scare the public at large.
