The most PREPOSTUROUS movie I have ever seen - avoid!
There is a movie franchise, "The Fast and the Furious," about street racing hot cars, which is really neat, and the first movies were done well.
I haven't seen them all, but over the 20+ years and ten movies, with more sequels and spinoffs to come, the plot now has the main characters working with spies and government agents, saving the world multiple times, with everything possible blowing up or being shot to pieces in boring action sequences, with several characters who died in the past movies reintroduced because they didn't really die, their death was faked by the CIA or it looked like they died, but they escaped and had amnesia and so never got back with everyone else for a few movies. Stuff like that.
Justin Lin is a great director... but he should have left this franchise long ago before it mutated into the present brain-addling explosion of poop. Star Vin Diesel has been in a number of great movies. This is not one of them. Cameos by Charlize Theron, Kurt Russell, and Helen Mirren make you wonder how much they got paid to be in this, did they even read the script?????.
To convey the utter ridiculousness, a Pontiac Fiero has a jet engine strapped to it. The car is given a ride to the stratosphere on top of a plane. Then the jet engine fires and the Fiero and its two occupants goes into orbit to destroy a satellite which is uploading something which could take over the entire world's computers, complete with a laptop that displays the status of the file upload in numerical percent. (It reaches 100%.) It's played dead seriously for the most part.
This movie is titled "F9." Grade: F. What happened to building and racing 10 second cars with lots of stunt driving action, glamorous guys and dolls in underground street rallies with fast motorcycles and tons of money changing hands?

A Pontiac Fiero... Maybe Elon Musk needs to look into that for his next spacecraft.IndelibleDotInk wrote: โSun Jul 04, 2021 2:46 am There is a movie franchise, "The Fast and the Furious," about street racing hot cars, which is really neat, and the first movies were done well.

My wife saw the CGI on the commercial and laughed so hard. So outrageous...

You sound like my son all through studio ghibli's "The Cat Returns" last night. "Cats can't talk, cats don't walk on their back legs like that, that Crow is bigger than an eagle! How can a cat fit its paws into shoes.? How come everyone in Japan speaks English? Theres no way crows could make a flying stairway that humans could walk down. etc etc etc . \\
It's nice when movies are able to accurately represent reality ,without having watched any of the fast and furious movies I would have assumed they are completely divorced from reality.
I watched Joaquin Phoenix in "You Were Never Really Here" the other day and it is a beautiful film. ,- but it was played so much like an updated "Taxi Driver" - that it made to really hard to decide if I was supposed to be suspending belief, or getting a glimpse into a world that could exist . Taxi Driver did not have that problem - I'm pretty sure that everything that happened in that movie could actually happen .

Your son has an analytical and curious and precocious side. https://ifunny.co/picture/now-that-i-ha ... -fcwse1SM7DittonW wrote: โSun Jul 04, 2021 6:35 pm You sound like my son all through studio ghibli's "The Cat Returns" last night.
