A couple newbie questions. . . fast/slow? Spec?

Post by tasha99 »

Hi all. I am sort of new to buying kratom and have a couple quesitons. I read things on vendor listings here that I don't quite understand. What is fast vs slow kratom? Is it how long it takes the effects to show up? Or to last? Similarly, all the mid-spec, uppermid spec, etc descriptions. Is that how stimulating? I know it should be obvious, but it seems like the color already sort of describes that. Plus, I've bought kratom that says "full spectrum" and I'm left scratching my head. :? Thanks for any info.

Edit--Oops. I tried to delete and repost in the general forum, but it didn't work. Sorry.

hey thanks for posting tasha99, always lots 'a lurkers who never post, so maybe your questions will help others! :geek:

Analysis of different kratom "strains" by researchers, pharmacists... show NO difference in alkaloids between "red, green, white". :o. And most kratom > 90% is from the same Borneo jungle area in Indonesia. (Some say 98% - I think maybe 7 to 10% could be from Sumatra?) - So... It's the same leaves from the same place.

But! That certainly does not mean ALL kratom is "the same" ? :? . White kratom, is often made from "bones" aka stems added to the mix... Also Red color kratom, is made by fermenting or oxidizing the leaf - Turning the green leaves to a brown or reddish color. So... there ARE recipes and blends.

The MAIN answer, to your questions... IS understanding that much of Kratom "info" is false, made-up, for Marketing to sell you more kratom. Americans love choices!! So years ago the Indonesians (along with USA vendors) started to make-up these fake "strains" - NO kratom is from Vietnam. NO kratom is grown on the island of Bali... and NO kratom leaves are separated by "vein". It's all one big pile of leaves!

Fast or Slow ?? Again... there's no evidence of any alkaloid property - causing these effects. :geek:. But there ARE differences in people ("Everyone is Different") and there ARE differences in the amount of kratom consumed. Just like anything - Drink too much beer, you get "slow" (drunk). Drink a little, you get a little buzz. - Some people, take a LOT of kratom. Too much kratom has Side Effects - Sedation. Feeling tired. That's "slow"... A light serving, gives some energy. That's "fast".

TL:DR The Kratom scene... Is full of personal opinions, unproven nonsense, false info, Sales & Marketing, and general BS... Do your own research!
