Unexpected treasures

I suspect a lot of you have had this experience but I thought I'd relate about mine today.

In an effort to clean out my (way too big) kratom collection I have been trying some of my older stuff (all in capsules I made so easy to test). As I suspected, most is pure trash (mostly before I found these forums, with mass online vendors selling crap - WAY before I got memberships in folks like TFH and Denette, which then replaced all this crap in my current rotation). But today I took one that was a VERY pleasant surprise, and will now get into my rotation (for the record it's labeled GC Emerald Ocean Waves A4, but I have ZERO idea who that vendor is - someone I bought from years ago I'm sure).

It wasn't *quite* a 5, but a solid 4 for sure and as at least 1/3 of my collection is still 4 it deserves a place. The only problem is that with five kilos of new stuff (from my aforementioned memberships) as well as another kilo from LSMS that I all have to make into capsules my rotation is going to be insane (right now it's a month between batches, but I suspect that will grow to at least six if not more weeks). I also have to find more racks - the ones I love I got from Amazon are no longer being sold anywhere and it's hard to find something to fit the bottles I use. But - first world problems. I'm just glad I'm testing this older stuff again because you never know when a hidden treasure will pop up (I have about another 30 to test - the ones that don't pass I'll try and put on the Trading Post, although I'm still skeptical anyone will want my homemade capsules).

GC = Gulf Coast. They had some great batches! The owner, Roel Gutierrez passed away a few months ago. He had been battling Liver Cancer I believe. So sad, I'm glad you found This Treasure from the past. Rest In Peace Roel.

Thanks for filling in my (memory) gaps - I just found ANOTHER treasure from (what is, to me) a more likely source - a Rhino batch that had fallen out of my rotation.

I'll check to see what other Gulf Coast stuff I might have. Hope Roel will RIP (I lost my best friend about a month ago - at my age all too common an occurrence. Sigh).

I don't want to be morbid, but since you constantly bring it up... but you are at the restful and ending part of senescence.

It would be sad, a travesty, even, to just have your collection tossed out by your kids.

I would like to suggest selling your loose powder and non-favorite capsules to your peers here, esp. noobs so they could have a taste of TFH, Denette, and all the other goodies (wave to Heavenleaf, Fused Flora, and Rhino) they can't get or don't know about.

Again, I don't mean to be badgering you, but you'd make some (ok, a LOT) of peeps pretty happy and fight against wastage.

I think you've been a tremendous citizen here on DoubleM and I read your posts with the eagerness of rugrats opening presents on Christmas Day. Plus a lot of peeps would be happy to chat with you on MeWe, I'll invite you to some groups.

I'm honestly in the process of evaluating my entire collection and as part of this process I will at least *attempt* to put some of my capsules on The Post (not sure how much interest in homemade capsules there would be).

I'll also put a few bags I have (unopened) where I just bought too much. But loose powder? Not in this house! LOL - if the bag is opened the capsules are made <g>.

It's this evaluation that had me start this thread - I'm revisiting a ton of stuff that just dropped out of my rotation. By and large it WAS the right thing to do - namely, it did not hit me this time around either. But as I noted earlier, there are a few gems I'm rediscovering.

So - soonest (and thanks for the kind words and NEVER worry about offending me about my lack of immortality. I'm all too aware of the time ticking off and while I'm healthy now I also know that can vanish in the blink of an eye. Right now, however, I'm kicking serious butt on MUCH younger tennis players so I'm enjoying it while it lasts :>).

Pretty much any green from their A4 batch is sublime. The Super Green and Emerald Ocean Waves are the best. A3 had some of the best whites I've ever had. A5 was pretty good too, but man that A4 batch is one of my all time favorites.

But you're young - trust me, doing the math it's impossible for me to use what kratom I have, let alone if I ever buy 1 gram more. At my present rate of consumption I'll easily leave many kilos unused, so it just makes sense to get rid of them for a wide variety of reasons. IOW, I have ALL the primo I could waste, and then some.

Well, you have a very unique problem then my friend, but it also sounds like you have a plan to handle it. For the rest of us, yeah, it's always worth a shot to throw some old stuff on the menu and see if it (or we) have changed. I mean, why not, it's already paid for eh.

Back in the day (i'm 43 now, so... 30yrs ago) I was quite the tennis player. 20yrs ago I picked up a raquet and all my shots soared out of the court's fences... so that put an end to my comeback.

Wanna talk paintball.. I could snipe, do arial flips over enemies and shoot them in the back, shoot a ball up an enemy's barrel...

I'm thinking of buying a set of clubs so I can spend time with my dad on the course. He's 70, had a heart attack and implanted defibrulator, and golfs twice a week. I don't want to intrude on his personal recreation time, though.

All the "active adult" communities around here (55 or older gated retirement places) have tennis courts and players. We also do inter-community matches. As a (fairly) decent player I get invited to play at two communities in particular three or four times a week so that's where I mostly play. Those matches are organized by the groups that run them.

When I first retired (at 54) I played USTA senior's tennis for a few years, up until my knees went (around my early 60's). It's taken nearly a decade for my knees to both be replaced so I'm FINALLY able to move around the court again. However - now my shoulder is basically shot and needs replacement (most likely early next year so I'll sit the very hot summer out). Honestly, if I had known I was going to live this long I'd have taken MUCH better care of myself.

Dear wife used to play but her own health issues put a stop to that over a decade ago so now she just does her walks (our own community has a number of nature trails - that's what it's most known for). As for golf - when I was a kid in college on the team with a 7 handicap I couldn't wait until I could quit. My dad (who LOVED the game) wanted me to take lessons and get better but I told him that when I was no longer able to play tennis I'd take up golf again.

That day hasn't happened yet. Thank God.

Yeah man, we making it alright..working, trying to make ends meet....trying to resist FOMO. It is really is a feat to be satisfied with ones stash. No matter how adequate or large that temptation to continuously expand is strong. It's a battle for sure!
