TFH : Jolly Red Giant's been my Jolly Red Best bud 😆

Post by Klyded »

Jolly Red Giant

Preface : What I speak on herein was NOT normal pain.. trigeminal horror which references a nerve bundle I hope none reading ever need learn the name of beyond this write up (skip ahead if context doesn't matter)

It has been a hot minute since I've left a review or interacted much within the Kratomic world.... truth be told, this forum and these communities have been (and are) way more important to me than some may think šŸ¤” but the bottom line is, like many of you, leaf has done nothing short of save my existence and reviews are but one small way to, simultaneously, express some things whilst "giving back" in a meager sense.

This past year however, I've endured some SURREAL adversity. Pain of a level that it created such a domino effect in my life, some of the most trying circumstances of my existence ensued. The type of oppressive agony that takes one out of the proverbial game, their online communities, and almost my career. Words can't really convey the scope of it....

Yet, hope endured, thanks only to the most incredible of allies and honestly, I acredit nothing short of a life saved thereof as a result... TFH and their leaf literally was the only thing that saw me through what would have otherwise, I believe, forced my body to succumb. That is not an exaggeration....

Jolly Red buddy and Giant kindness : The review of what proved to be, most likely, my most consumed strain in almost a decade of leaf-driven misadventures. (the actual part of this write up that matters šŸ˜†)

So, in the wide world of mitra'magic, it's always a matter of give and take. That is to say, if maximum analgesic awesome is ones aim, chances are high your going to sacrifice energy. If energy is priority, mood boost may take a back seat... the focus factor may cost one the "chill out"... so on and so forth.

Given my situation though, I needed a strain that could really accomplish relief of the highest order, without slowing me down. My situation was a matter of needing to perform to survive, which almost required taking things I was not comfortable with... and I believe I would have... had it not been for the uniquely jolly compadre known as the Red Giant šŸ˜†

Plain and simple, dropping the colorful language, JRG is super unique to me. Very seldom has a daytime red had the mood elevating properties JRG does, coupled with the relief to such an extent. I also find, where the U4eeAh
steals the show, longevity gets kicked off stage, and while the band plays an entrancing tune, it's a quick number... Yet JRG plays on, well into an encore.... (ok, so maybe I kept it colorful 🤭)

There is only so much one can say about a strain before they sound redundant, but I really can't emphasize enough how there ARE words I'd employ, only in the service of the Giant.... words such a loyal, because despite burning through well beyond a few kg of it, it KEEPS burning šŸ”„ bright as the day is long. Most strains wear out their welcome, or one day betray the kratomite enlisting their services, but not the Giant! I am STILL, to present day, getting fantastic results with this strain.... and thereof is actually a huge, if not Giant 🤣, reason I will always be a TFH fanboy, because they are really the only ones whom consistently have strains that don't just stop working so swell after a spell.

And finally, the TFH dream team of Chris and Angie have the patience of saints to put up with me 🤣.. As I went through the hell I described in the preface, their email exchanges were seriously one of the only positive interactions I had during a dark dark period... No vendor is obliged to care what anomalous afflictions are plaguing a kratomite yet they were there for me when even my actual face to face friends and partner left me as it looked like I really was about to kick the bucket.

Conclusion

While I know some of this sounds a bit extreme, the fact is, it was. It was the most extreme pain I survived in 40 years on this rock. If it weren't for TFH and their leaf, I'd have lost my house or worse. The JRG is a massive achievement in kratomic engineering in my mind šŸ˜… and the fact I'm writing this now... not exactly out of the woods, but getting there... is miraculous. The Red Giant is a heavenly strain alongside Chris and Angie who did nothing short of spare my completely becoming embittered, so while this write up may sound extreme, it is by no stretch whatsoever, an exaggeration.

Thank you for reading. Now go snag some JRG however you can for the tough days you too need a best friend 🧔

Oh, dear God. You have Trigeminal. (Neuropathy, neuralgia...) I am so sorry.

I live, if you want to call it that, with a different kind of pain and as I have been architecting a future order out of May's disability I have yet to receive, I didn't include JRG in my four way split and it has been a long time. This has been massively persuasive to add it to my split, since I have had some notably major flares as of late and little remembrance as to what I took before to get through it all to the other side.

Your through and beautiful review gave me the reminder I remember and so gratefully needed. Thank you.

Thank you for the reminder of TFH's JRG. I remember being intrigued when it was named and introduced, and it's for sure to be on my list when I need to reorder. Still plowing through my still excellent earlier TFH buy, which included two exceptional Reds, a 30 year old wild red Bali, and Rocket Red.

This is one of my all time favorites, but it did take a few tries before it ā€œhit.ā€ Now it hits like 80% of the time. Pure relaxation and relief

Been seeing quite a few outstanding reviews for TFH strains. I had to stop buying TFH because my system must be burned out on them. Not one of the super strains that came out in the last 2 years have had any effect on me... zero. I decided to go with other vendors for a couple years. Every once in awhile I dig out Crown Jewel Sumpur or one of the others with great reviews & try 'em for a couple days, but... nothing. Kinda sad.

I use kratom for pain relief & when I don't have a strain for that, things are really rough. Just got back from two weeks in the hospital. It was brutal. Got a huge blood clot in the artery to my left kidney. Pain was incredible. But then the doctor shoved a catheter up my femoral artery(the big artery in your leg) to the clot & blasted it out WITHOUT ANY PAINKILLER. He didn't want to do that, tried to talk me into letting my kidney die. Hell no! I've had tons of complications since then, but at least I'm home now. Oh, yeah... so after that they put me into Intensive Care & told me I couldn't move. You read that right. So I complained that my back hurt, the nurses rolled me over onto my side, & it tore my artery open. What a fiasco! BTW... hospitals are now giving surgery patients fentanyl instead of morphine & dilaudid. Don't let them! After 8 hours on fentanyl, they stopped & I went thru 5 days of opiate withdrawal. Sorry to dump on you folks. It's been a really bad 3 weeks & I feel like absolute crap.

Have you tried DTE? They are known for having great reds. I think you'd dig something like their new Super Red Malay A27.

I like strains like Crown Jewel Sumpur a lot but I dose kratom for mood lift. Strains like Sumpur and Ancient Forest White provide that in spades but not sure how effective they are for pain relief. Hope u feel better soon.

Pray4Peace, yes Fent has been the surgery "standard" for many years... Fent is a full synthetic, (Made out of 'nothing' like rice or yeast!) so Pro's and con's... Opioids like morphine, are high in histamine, w/ possible bad allergy reactions, body covered in itchy hives... Not a problem with Fent. But on the street --> 100K deaths per year 😯

I keep seeing people saying this about TFH when anytime I've had a great burn with a vendor it happens right away with the serving I take. When TFH did their first raffle here years ago, it was a hit right away. It really has me curious what these batches are testing at. Does Chris post the COA's anywhere?

The menu doesn’t link to any COA, but I haven’t asked Chris either. I just trust his intense screening and testing/review-based menu curation lead to good results

One other thing I’ve observed, with batches that do link to mit %, is that higher mit doesn’t always translate to better quality. Usually, but not always. I’ve had 2% batches that don’t hit, and 1.4% batches that hit every time. There’s got to be some magic in the ratio of different alkaloids in the leaf

Indeed, that's one of the reasons I'm curious. I know that any leaf I've had that tested above .4% Speciociliatine is more sedating, GABA-A modulating, and typially more anxiolytic (stress-reducing). It's not just 7-hydroxy that is for relief.

I'm also curious because as of lately, I'm aiming to not consume leaf that tests higher than .6 ppm for any heavy metals (lead, arsenic etc) and that personal limit set is based on the math for my total daily elemental consumption ppm, regarding my grams per day total.

Just recently as well I've learned that some batches that Ive been taking from reputable vendors have way too much (not only lead or arsenic) but mold/yeast/fungus or coliforms/e. Coli. Both of these when consumed daily if tested high, can eventually lead to some sort of disease whether cancer or tumors. It's a scary fact.

Woah, in the name of transparency could you say what vendors tested for those things? I feel like this would be a good topic for a whole new thread. Can’t imagine what years of taking sketchy leaf could have done😳

To be clear, most vendors on here do testing and provide COA's that test for the alkaloids, elemental and microbial. Just do your DD and start paying attention to the COA's. If not already provided, request certain vedors provide them or suggest them to start doing so.

For heavy metals - Let's say for example the COA says Arsenic is at .0754 mg/kg (ppm) Which is extremely low. Most are anywhere from .2 to .8 even sometimes higher.
Calculate arsenic intake in mg:
Take your grams per day Ć· 1,000 = (Mine is 8GPD so .008)
0.075 mg/kg Ɨ 0.008 kg = 0.0006 mg
Convert mg to µg:
0.0006 mg Ɨ 1000 = 0.6 µg ( Prop 65 level I believe is below .5 ug/day ) but the "safe" level is 10 µg/day for arsenic.
