Shitty news. Thanks for letting us know, though.

What exactly happens if it passes? Does kratom immediately become banned or is there some time before it goes into effect? Is there a way to get it reversed in the future if politicians with half a brain get elected?
I realize that it's not final, I just like to know what to expect. Thanks.

Personally I do not know. I'm just passing it along.
From what I've gathered, if it passes the senate it won't go into effect immediately, but it will be irreversible for 5 years.
We should be getting an official update from AKA with an explanation or further instructions. If I see something related in the meantime I will post it here.

Also unless I'm understanding wrong, the bill does not directly ban kratom. There's a possibility it passes and they never ban it. Or they ban it in 2 years. Or the next day. We don't know.
Kratom might have the attention of the government but I'd guess there are several synthetic drugs out there that are higher priority for them.
That's not to say we don't keep up the fight just as hard if not harder, but no need to think we are in immediate danger either IMO

I am by no means an expert on politics, actually I know nothing but this is what I was told when I asked some individuals who I think to be informative on politics, as well as what I read on the r/kratom forum. This bill from my understanding was proposed by a Republican therefore it was expected to pass today. It is when the bill reaches the Senate that is where the support for kratom will come from. My anxiety has been pretty high on the matter but everyone I talk to seems extremely confident that we will live to see another day. Hope this is helpful. Cheers.

Re: sitsa has passed the house
It still has to pass the Senate, and from what I've read, it will have a rather tough time with that. I'm sure the AKA will be releasing a call-to-action very shortly.
From my understanding, Here are the three possible outcomes:
1. The bill is amended to remove kratom, in which case we're okay.
2. It does not pass in the Senate, in which case we're okay.
3. It passes the Senate unamended, and then it's only a matter of when.
Regardless of a positive outcome with this, the fight is far from over. Whatever we are instructed to do next, we ALL need to do.

Thanks to everyone that answered. I have a much better understanding of it now.
