Re: Crushed leaf tea
Is the crushed leaf Liza's red stem and vein? I'm not a big fan of tea due to plant matter! Even when straining it out, seems to somehow make it's way in my tea cup!

Re: Crushed leaf tea
Crushed leaf is the whole leaf, including the stem, vein, and everything else. The stem&vein is a different item on the menu.

Re: Crushed leaf tea
Crushed Leaf Tea is fantastic, easy to make (less hassle than using powder!) and, very likely Crushed is stronger per gram compared to powder, since 1- Whole Leaf has all the alkaloids, 2- it hasn't been broken down in hot milling machines, which can possibly damage alks - I use this basic 24-hour Tea Recipe:GrannyJ62 wrote:I just wanted to check in an say Liza has awesome crushed leaf, I ordered a little tea pot with diffuser put in this leaf and it not only looks beautiful but the taste is good to and yes it feels just like a good green ...
- Prep leaves 1: Weigh 4+ servings, Freeze in water, Thaw.
- Prep step 2: Measure liquid (water & juice), add Citrus, sit in fridge overnight
- Next day, Cook your Tea for 40+ minutes at high simmer 190 degrees
- Cool and Strain. Use Aeropress for best straining effect!
- Test pH and use baking soda or water drops, raise pH Level to 5-6
- Final step: Add extra sweetener or flavoring. Store in fridge. Enjoy!!

Thanks, I found the crushed leaf now! I will have to try it out. Does anyone here ever chew on the leaves?

Re: Crushed leaf tea
I've tried chewing fresh leaves several times. Usually a single leaf (approximately hand sized) with the main stem removed. The effects are faster (less than 15 minutes) and stimulating, but shorter in duration (less than 1.5 hours).

Re: Crushed leaf tea
On Prep Step 2, I measure my water, 4+ cups, to 18g kratom (4 servings) and I swap 1 of those water cups for 1 cup V8 Splash Diet, Tropical Blend flavor. Then I cut-up one half Lime or Lemon, add those pieces! Or try a small tangerine! Fills a Quart jar. Let that sit in fridge a good 8+ hours.. After the cooking simmer step, I pick out or strain out, the fruit pieces before my cool down & straining.

Re: Crushed leaf tea
I'm using these plastic pH Strips ($6 on Amazon), you're testing for the pH range around 3.0 to 6.5 .. After brewing your tea, Prep in fridge w/ citrus fruit, lemon juice, and or using powder Citric Acid.. your Tea will be very acidic around 3.0 which is too harsh for storing cold brew Kratom Tea, several days. Acid works great for pulling alkaloids OUT of plant matter.. We then want to protect those alks by raising the pH at least to 5.5 or around 6.0
Strips are used for other kinds of brew: Kombucha, beer making, etc very important for storage of Kratom Tea. This recipe makes a good 4+ servings (for me) and I want to make a nice batch to last days.. Store in fridge using glass canning jars. Ball jars 1 pint, or get some Classico spaghetti sauce & use those Atlas jars, they have measuring lines on side!

Oh I'd guess those pH meter would work even better!! Good for him.GrannyJ62 wrote: I m definitely doing this hubby has a ph meter lol he tells me as I'm headed to Amazon![]()
Another thing I have for cooking, is a digital Thermometer it helps, after freeze & fridge prep you have already loosened alkaloids, so heat up and bring "just" to boil then reduce heat! Any boiling is like 205 degrees.. So to protect alks I use this thingy to monitor temp below boiling. Like 190 degrees is fine.. simmer for 40 min still reduces water volume, I started w/ 1 quart water & juice, ends up after straining, around 20 oz !

Re: Crushed leaf tea
Kratom is so acidic on it's own. I tested my dose in water once it was like 2.8
No wonder I'm dependent on acid controllers.

The thing is, I get zantac prescribed, and I have no co-pays. Gotta go with the best deal.

Yeah but it's also well known now to be causing major health issues with prolonged use.... Hence it no longer being available OTC man. But, hey do what you please.beathappening wrote:The thing is, I get zantac prescribed, and I have no co-pays. Gotta go with the best deal.

Re: Crushed leaf tea
From what I've heard, there is a slight chance of ranitinde causing cancer. To be honest, I don't mind. Prilosec and other similar things that can negative effects. So can Tylenol and ibuprofen. They didn't take it off the shelves at my pharmacy, and it works incredibly well for heartburn and acid indigestion. And it's free for me. It may not be otc but it's available by prescription. Prilosec and other similar drugs have the same warning. Maybe I'm just too much or a nihilist but hey, we are all going to die at one point, and besides ranitidine has a very minute chance of actually causing cancer. I guess what I'm saying is I don't really care. I'll take the short term relief over the slim possibility of getting cancer for never having heartburn. That's just me. Every medicine has its downsides.

Only thing we can get around here is famotidine now. Seems to work okay though I only take it once a day in the morning.

Re: Crushed leaf tea
I'm going to offer a controversial alternative method for making tea. Some folks here will swear it won't work, all I can say is it works for me, and it's a lot less trouble and quite fast.
- - Get a wide mouthed thermos bottle (a real, vacuum-insulated thermos). Put a dose of crushed leaf in the thermos.
- Add a few drops of lemon juice.
- Add boiling water and close the thermos.
- Shake occasionally over the next half hour.
- After about 30 minutes, filter through a paper coffee filter. Add sweetener or flavoring if you like, and drink up.

Re: Crushed leaf tea
This is pretty much how I make my tea every time I dose now except to filter I use an aero press. I def do agree that this is a very simple tea method and makes a clean, clear, nice tasting tea as well!! Thanks for your input heme!heme2016 wrote:I'm going to offer a controversial alternative method for making tea. This method is a bit less efficient at extracting alkaloids from kratom than the more elaborate tea preparation techniques. So just use a bit more kratom to compensate.
