Happy Hippo Herbals
I’ve been using Kratom pretty much daily for a year and a half now. I’ve tried several different “suggested” vendors some GMP compliant some not. I’ve got to say Happy Hippo Herbals, while more expensive than other vendors, (not bad when you buy it on sale) has the best and cleanest quality products of anyone else. I’ve tried almost all their strains and there’s really not much variance from batch to batch, always consistent. Their reds are super amazing and their whites are lovely in their own way as well. I’m not a big fan of greens. Anyone up here tried them? If you haven’t, and you’re reading this, visit their website and indulge. Promise you won’t be let down.

Have you seen the vendor list that Ballz does ever season? Much better prices.

their prices ARE bad unless on sale. thats the only time iv let myself order from them, but i havent since my last order. Happy Hippo 1 was disappointing and it was my favorite strain. i also appreciate that they do giveaways and stuff on their social media, i won a couple free bottles of their (at the time) new capsules so that was cool

aww save it man. They are among the worst HIGH priced vendors, price per gram.. And reviews are terrible.. (Search Bar!) I mean going back 2 years to Reddit.. they run like 80% bad comments. Which is crazy 'cuz people usually say nice things, for good average kratom.ChefNateHippo wrote:I’ve been using Kratom pretty much daily for a year and a half now. I've tried it. And its not magic or special... it's no different then the kratom found on here, probably even use the same sources, one thing I will give them though where they truly stand out is on their ability to charge that much and still look at themselves in the mirror each day.
That site is for rubes and hayseeds.

That's straight facts. They were the first vendor I ordered kratom from because a lot of sites were referring me to them and I spent quite a bit of money on 100 grams of their kratom. Their quality is at best average and (in my opinion) doesn't hold a candle to the quality of these smaller, cheaper vendors like TFH, LOE, and Benni Botanicals.BallzDeep9 wrote:aww save it man. Hey to each their own. My daily consumption is far less than most probably and I don’t smoke cigarettes or drink booze regularly, so buying HH on sale is not much of an expense to me especially knowing it’s sanitary product. I’ve tried Fused Flora (recommended here) strange tasting weird feeling stuff, DG botanicals everyone RAVED about in these forums and that stuff was sketchy as heck, made me feel super weird. I’ve also tried some other mainstream vendors, Krabot (strange side effects), Kats Botanicals (junk), Carolina Kratom (local brand decent stuff), and a couple of others. I’m totally open to finding another lower priced option, but from what I’ve experienced it’s a wild world out there and god only knows what kind of bacteria people are consuming from non-sterilized low quality controlled vendors. It seems everyone just wants to claim theirs is the cheapest and still good. Make me a believer, because at this point I’m sticking with what works for me.

This forum isn't a monolith, and everyone has their different tastes here. Personally I don't like or haven't tried a few of those you listed. No one's out to try to "make you a believer" and "convert" you to what's popular to a few users that post here (most are lurkers who's opinion doesn't get heard.) Most people cringe at the thought of a company ripping their customers off that bad (they buy their kilos for the same price as everyone else: $20-40 each depending on quantity, bur sell at 10x that (1,000% markup to be generous)...that's just a fact).ChefNateHippo wrote:Hey to each their own. Most kratom is the same, and the big names like HH who import tons at a time usually have the worst quality control. If you want to buy the same leaf at an outrageous mark up, and have nothing else to spend your money on, or just don't care, that's up to you. If that's what works for you and you're happy with it, good for you, more power to you. Keep in mind that that opinion is anecdotally rare and in the very small minority, and it's typically held by newcomers who don't know better or haven't tried much else or whats out there.
Members here are just trying to help each other out, and that means steering folks away from vendors with a majority of bad reviews or vendors that overcharge. Don't be afraid to try other stuff out, you may find something better than what you're used to...and eventually you will get burned out on HH (same vendor syndrome) and you'll either quit or try to find something better, we'll be here to help you when that happens.

Re: Happy Hippo Herbals
I assumed this would be the consensus here considering the price. I myself haven’t really found many negative reviews of Happy Hippo. Also they actually do not import directly from Asia like most. They purchase from a 3rd party in Michigan who tests and sterilizes their product before they even receive it and do testing themselves. They actually personally test each batch to ensure it reaches a certain standard. I’ve spoken with them many times and all of this info is on their site. Most small vendors I ask about quality control and safety questions and they give you the line “oh everyone gets the same thing and no one tests it.” Believe what ya want. I’m hoping I can find another vendor that hits the right spots though, so the “make me a believer” is actually a legitimate desire on my behalf. If I can find a product that is safe and clean and burns as good as HH I would love to save a few bucks haha! I appreciate all the opinions. I’ve done my due diligence as far as researching the Kratom industry and how it’s actually harvested and produced, so I’m by no means a clueless lamb on the subject. I’d love to get my hands on some TFH, the whole string drying process they talk about is intriguing, and they seem like a legitimate company that cares about quality safe product for people to consume.

As a former HH user, I discovered that there is high quality available elsewhere that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
There's nothing wrong with brand loyalty, but keep an open mind. Texas Family Harvest does a MM members only sale starting April 15th. I recommend you take a close look at his menu. His leaf is stellar. And reasonably priced.

Happy Hippo is among several old skool high price AKA vendors. Domain registered over 7 years ago, March 2013 - Five years before the huge kratom BOOM happened in 2018.. One thing stands out about this vendor: great Internet Marketing! Very kool website with cute funny animals. Genius. The whole scheme is E-commerce Psychology 101, SEO and taking advantage of n00bs.. For many years, his credit card orders raked in HUGE profits.. Sure he donated to AKA. Less than a Quarter Kg 226 gram for $100 ? he could afford to donate
Well, we could spend all day, chatting about how kratom is promoted in USA. Why it's Fake News bullshit, and how slick websites operate to maximize profits.. Since you've mentioned lab testing, GMP compliance, etc in each of your posts let's address that. A big subject we've tried to discuss on MM, (Members don't seem to care, or would rather talk vendors?). But it's an important topic!!
Kratom IS a Product of Indonesia. Re-packaging a raw herbal product harvested from a foreign country. GMP = Good Manufacturing Practices, but nothing is being "manufactured" here.. GMP is a set of guidelines, best practices, mainly targeted at food & beverage, drug and supplement companies. Not doing a detail analysis of HH, but c'mon.. He operated for 5+ years not caring a bit about GMP, suddenly it's another marketing gag.. He's not even importing kratom. Wholesale guys import 50 Tons at a time, yet HH claims on his blog "We know the origin of every single Bag" yeah sure.. Where's his GMP Chain Of Custody proof lol.. ask him to post that. Lab testing for AKA vendors is sketchy at best. Yes definitely believe what ya want.
So these old skool profiteers have now, banded together & formed an Alliance with AKA to protect their Cash Cow
You use the word sterile, how do you suppose HH can "sterilize" raw powder from the Indo jungle?
Very simple: Pour near boiling water on your raw kratom powder. Bingo it's sterile.. problem solved. But screwing 90% of kratom vendors, to benefit a small group of millionaires.. No more "small batch" small farmer kratom.. Only Big Money Kratom by the ton, (the Bigger the Load, the less Quality Control.) IF that's the USA kratom market you want to support? That sucks

I’ve tried to post my response twice and it didn’t go through. Anyway, to the peanut gallery kerplunkers, I’m not trying to engage in any sort of competitive forum conversation here. Or win some sort of pissing match as you guys are obviously viewing this. Agree to disagree on HH, they’re not the villainous executive raking in profits to the demise of the underlings. They have a decent size staff all of whom make at least 15 bucks an hour. To ballz, they “bake” and sterilize their product at 170 degrees to kill all possible pathogens, although the boiling water you speak of will definitely achieve a similar result.

I don’t mind tea, but I’ve become partial to my 2-3 oz shots with OJ and a little turmeric powder I’m all for free markets and supporting the little guy as well. I’ll definitely be doing some more digging around about this industry and the “big guys”. I reached out to Chris from TFH, hoping to get in on the sampling or whatever is happening on the 15th of April. Thanks for all the legitimate input. I’m totally open to finding a small vendor with cheaper pricing that provides the same positive effects I get from HH. I like white and reds, so anymore suggestions would be appreciated in my inbox. I’m definitely not a rube or hayseed as someone up there suggested, how elementary.

Yeah it is suspicious, especially when Hippo is in the username. I don't care necessarily but it is a bit disingenuous. Regardless, Ive known about HH for a while but the prices are just way too prohibitive.Damen ck wrote:Have you worked for them or something? How do you know all this?ChefNateHippo wrote:. Re: Happy Hippo Herbals
I actually tried to change my username last night and figured out you can’t. Lol no I don’t work for them. I have corresponded through email a LOT with the main guy there. That’s what I go by when I email back and forth with them. I was a Chef and I also try a lot of different blends with leaf to see what goes together well. One of which I shared with them and they liked and sold it as their new year leaf. Since I contributed to the idea they literally sent me a pound of the blend for free, no strings attached, didn’t have to write a review or anything. Also I have a buddy who struggles with opiates and all he buys is really weird headshop Kratom and I wanted him to branch out a little. I emailed with HH about him and they literally asked for his shipping info and sent him 6 oz for free with a handwritten note telling him to stay strong and enjoy the leaf. So in short, I’m just a big fan of them, because as far as I can tell, they are decent compassionate human beings (although their Kratom is pricey)Sneakers wrote:Yeah it is suspicious, especially when Hippo is in the username. I still have some Red Hot and Hyper Hippo left in 4 oz bags that i purchased some years ago, and it is quite good for an occasional burn. Was good shipping with a good website with explanations on each strains average effects (good speed chart). They are expensive (priced way above average) but small 4 oz bags justified my spending at the time.ChefNateHippo wrote:I’ve been using Kratom pretty much daily for a year and a half now. i have experienced better vendors and leaf, especially from joining and reading here on MM Herbals.
I even have some bags tucked away from Gaia from years back that is is fairly decent leaf, especially useful for a taper Lol
