TFH Sunset Bali
crossposting my review of Sunset Bali for anyone interested!
This is a first impression review. I like to journal the burn each hour for a 1st impression so I know what to expect with later burns. Onset, peak, legs, and any standout or missing aspects are noted.
1800: I just took my evening dose:
1.5g mixed with a squirt of lemon juice, set for 5 minutes, then simmered for 10 minutes in 4 oz water and aeropressed.
Smell is more pumpkin like than hay or grass.
Taste is bitter with a sour/bile aftertaste that lingers for a minute.
Grind is fine. No grit or visable plant matter. It fairly dissolved into the water and didn't have a thick layer of mud in the aeropress after pressing.
The tea color is a nice bright amber leaning more yellow than red.
Onset: 45 minutes and I've already got some nice body tingles going on.
Just a side note: I just ate a steak and pasta salad so the initial impression may be milder for me than if I waited more time to eat. The burn isn't as effected by eating when I drink tea. If the effects are dulled at all by food, it doesn't usually last long, maybe 20 or 30 minutes, before it ramps back up to full strength.
1900: I can already feel the mood lift kicking in. Warm and happy.
Mood: 7/10
Pain relief: unk/10
Motivation: 4/10
Focus: 5/10
Energy: 5/10
Euphoria 7/10
Sedation: 2/10
Anxiolytic: 7/10
Appetite suppressant 2/10
Warmth: 6/10
Social: 7/10
2000: I'm warm, relaxed, and tingly. I could take a nap if I wanted to, with a smile on my face, but this doesn't feel overly sedating. I could definitely socialize without my anxiety flaring up or just sit on the couch and chat. On the pain relief side, my sciatica has decided to bother me a bit over the past couple of hours. This strain is dulling the pain a bit, but I probably wouldn't reach for this if I needed pain relief.

2100: 3 hours in to the burn now. I feel like this one peaked at around 2 hours. It's turning more sedating now, less warm and tingly. The anxiety relief and relaxation is still pretty great. And I'm oddly chatty, lol. I've been texting like crazy for the past hour. I can only infer that this strain would be a great social enhancer based on that. Mix it with a speedier green or white and I bet it would make for a great night out blend. Pain relief is definitely not a strong point here for me.

2200: At the 4 hour mark now. Apparently the sedation was only because I was sitting still. When I got up to do some stuff around the house I'm pleasantly awake, just really relaxed, loose, and chill. I like not having to fight against the leaf if I choose to be awake. I don't think I would drive right now, though, unless I had some caffeine or a monster energy. I feel a little too relaxed to operate heavy machinery. The munchies have kicked in with a tiiiiny bit of itching, too. Tells me those mu receptors of mine are still being targeted. Definitely feels like this burn is wrapping up now.

Nice work, Banana
Question: Was the kratom an Amber color before you heated it up or after? And if it was "after" does green kratom usually turn another color when you heat it?

Re: TFH Sunset Bali
The tea liquid after pressing through my Aeropress was amber. The powder itself was a light green, pretty unremarkable. And I do usually find the powder and water turns darker, more towards a greenish brown, while simmering.Greyfeather wrote:Nice work, Banana![]()

Thanks for the clarification. Now I won't have to freak out the first time I make tea/frozen bubbleBanana pants wrote:The tea liquid after pressing through my Aeropress was amber. Re: TFH Sunset Bali
definitely stands out in the mood department. Taken with ~1g Jade Hulu and i’m golden. Sunset bali is a solid choice for day time burns
