Virgil's "diet" sodas
Virgil's sodas are delicious, formerly small batch crafted by the people who make Reed's ginger beer.
I really love Reed's Extra Ginger, and in my search for its lower calorie counterpart, Reed's 55, found Virgil's! I tried and enjoyed Virgil's Cola. But it had sugar. And calories.
While shopping at Safeway, of all places, I found Virgil's zero sugar sodas, no calories, no sugar, no caffeine. The cola and black cherry are great, the root beer and vanilla cream are good if you like that sort of thing. I was shocked cause you could only get the sodas at Whole Foods or specialty shops before.
Really check them out if you like sodas, they don't taste diet-y, just full flavor here.

Zevia soda is great as well haven't tried virgils looks a lot more pricey than zevia. They both use stevia as a sweetener so I would assume both are pretty similar.

No way, I've had a Zevia once, it was not a good experience. The drink tastes very chemical, not a natural mouthfeel, no tantalizing of tastebuds.mitragy9 wrote:Zevia soda is great as well haven't tried virgils looks a lot more pricey than zevia. Virgil's tastes like something you wanna drink, in fact, it is something you want to drink! And you're right about the cost, it's expensive.

I'm not sure how long ago you tried it but they've changed their formula several times it tastes great to me. No chemical taste or anything like that but it is very sweet tasting I would say more than regular soda. They both are basically the same thing when it comes down to its sweetener.IndelibleDotInk wrote:No way, I've had a Zevia once, it was not a good experience. I probably like their cola and ginger ale/ginger root beer the best, but I like pretty much all of them. I haven't tried their grapefruit one yet though their citrus flavors are also decent as well.IndelibleDotInk wrote:any flavor you recommend?

The Zevia I tried before was terrible! I'm not hoping for much, lol, but I got a sixpack of "dr zevia." Chilling as we type.

You're mostly right - it's ok tasting! I would drink it but would not buy it.
There's a chemicalish aftertaste, can tell it's from artificial sweetening, but not bad, it's like Diet Coke.
I will happily drink the rest of the six pack.

Holy shit!! That was a wild ride guys...in less than 24 hours, I experienced suspense (will they fight?, hope not but...maybe), education (purposeful exchange on chemical flavor) and ultimately.. redemption. Dr. Zevia for the win.
Another fine reason I come here on break from teaching.

lol, i wouldn't say zevia for the win, i'd say virgil's no sugar for the win, but zevia isn't bad. try a virgil's, then you'll see the light.
