Re: Eddie Van Halen Dead at 65
Creator, innovator, virtuoso... Eddie Van Halen elevated 70's rock guitar styles, and signalled the 80's shredder boom.
I definitely remember, 40 years ago, every electric player wanted Eddie's tapping licks...
Many maybe don't know, he built all his own gear... including that Kramer "Franken Strat" banana headstock guitar that made Kramer the #1 selling USA guitar for a couple years during the 80's... later built his own line of EVH Amps.

I saw him in 78 when Van Halen opened for Black Sabbath. He blew me away! Been a huge fan ever since. Saw them again in 82, 86, and 2012.
One of my all-time faves. RIP Guitar God!!!

Eddie was a badass i remember when 1984 come out i was only 9yrs old but I heard panama on the radio and I had to have the album we lived in a small town with only one store the nearest big town was Frankfort 40miles away i begged my mom to take me to "The Wal Marts" to get the cassette by the way cassette tapes were these about 3inch by 5inch rectangular plastic things that you used to half to use to play music anyways I drove my mom nuts playing it on my boombox carrying around on my shoulder in the house and in my mom's pioneer super tuner radio in the car everywhere we went some people didn't like the 1984 album because of the keyboard sound which Eddie played on the album also but it helped start my love for rock R.I.P Eddie

To be honest I still can't beelieve Ozzy is still here. I went to his "No More Tours Tour" back in the earky/mid nineties. Then 20 years later I was at Ozzfest.

The only time I came close to seeing Ozzy was in 78 when Van Halen opened for them, but Ozzy was a no-show. After Van Halen played we waited for about an hour and a half and finally someone came out on stage and told us the rest of the concert was cancelled. People went CRAZY!! Throwing bottles and storming the stage - it was so much FUN!!! But I do regret not seeing them. Sabbath is another of my all-time faves.JoeAndTheHoe wrote:To be honest I still can't beelieve Ozzy is still here. I went to his "No More Tours Tour" back in the earky/mid nineties. I saw Ozzy in April of 1982 a few weeks after Randy got killed in that stupid plane accident. It was one of the best concerts I ever went too...that's when they had the huge Castle on stage, and the show opened with the Organ playing the beginning of Mr. Crowley with the concert hall was totally black all you could see was the outline of the castle, and then the stairs started to open up slowly as fog was rolling out from under the stage and Ozzy suddenly stepped into the middle of the fog singing...M R CROWLEY...BOOM BOOM BOOM.....Oh man it's like I'm there right nowJoeAndTheHoe wrote:To be honest I still can't beelieve Ozzy is still here. Ozzy is a legend i wish they would make a movie about him couldn't imagine what hanging out with him would be like especially in the 80s loved his hair back then to i remember seeing this documentary about motley crue and tommy lee was talking about touring with Ozzy and his crazy shenanigans one time they were staying at this hotel together and each floor had a aquarium at the end of the hall one of those on their floor had a ant farm in it Ozzy says to tommy lee hey man watch this he gets a bunch of ants out puts them on the desk in a line takes a bill out and snorts them! Bet the movie would have all kinds of crazy stories like that
