The Birth of Southeast Botanicals:
My name is Colin Hollister and I'd like to share with you the story of my kratom company. Southeast Botanicals LLC was founded in the summer of 2017 in beautiful Saint Petersburg, FL -- a city widely regarded as the kratom capital of the United States. We easily have 200 companies selling kratom here, and while there's no shortage of competition, Southeast Botanicals has become one of the most trusted sources of premium kratom powder for businesses and individual consumers alike. We attribute this to a simple philosophy: Do business with integrity and success will follow.
The proverbial road that led me to you was uphill (both ways!) I struggled for years with alcohol and drug addiction... but by the grace of the kratom gods I stumbled into one of my city's many alternative tea bars, although then there were far fewer. I met so many wonderful people there, each with their own unique story of how kratom had turned their lives around for the better. I developed a true passion for the product and, quite unbeknownst to me, it was there that I would begin my journey from doubtful drinker to distributor.
Fast-forward through a couple years worth of networking at late night tea parties, I transformed from customer into teatender at a local muddy-watering hole. Being on the other side of the tea bar was a real joy for me and, when I wasn't purveying plant water, I found pleasure in coordinating our bar's events. At the time, it was already a common occurrence to receive Facebook messages from Indonesian farmers trying to directly sell you kratom powder.
One day it occurred to me that I could offer to pay lower prices than they were offering if I agreed to purchase kratom in bulk. I mentioned this idea about importing to the young owners of the bar I worked at, perhaps even starting an online store to sell kratom across the United States, and in essence they told me my plan was not good! Soon after, I left with a dream of selling kratom and doing kratom events on a larger scale and as my own business. I did, however, have one major factor working against me. After leaving my job to start my company I had become homeless.
I cut my teeth selling the first 20 kilos I had imported at a local flea market and I did my darndest to spread the good word. I was inexperienced as a kratom salesman at the time but I think that lended itself to a certain kind of charm. I learned an important lesson about sales at the flea market... I learned that it's actually really easy to sell a product when you care about it. I had plenty of care to spare... what I needed was a lucky break! Eventually, that came in the form of a customer of influence taking notice of me.
We spent several nights together discussing different directions I could take my new business. Ultimately, we decided to create an event where we could educate guests about the many positive benefits of kratom. With his good name, we were able to secure the most popular music venue in St. Pete, Jannus Live, for close to free. The Kommunity Rise Up was held in 2018 for approximately 500 guests. I was able to convince fifteen kratom bars from all across the great state of Florida to join us, as well as Florida's ambassador to the American Kratom Association who attended as a guest speaker, and a number of popular musical guests performed. I was now both a well-known kratom salesman and professional event coordinator... all while sleeping every night under a tarp on a soggy mattress in the truck bed of my '98 Ford F-150. (The 2nd Annual Kommunity Rise Up was held a year later in Tampa, FL at Sweetwater Organic Community Farm.)
Springboarding from the success of these events, as well as a few interviews on the news in Tampa and popular magazines like Playboy and Sensi, Southeast Botanicals was able to further establish itself as a leader in the kratom community. With the good word of mouth came new customers, and over the years the 20 kilos had grown into 40, then 100, then 200 and so on; before long we had the purchasing power to import tons.* I was able to get off the streets and into an apartment. We were able to acquire industrial-grade heat and vacuum sealing machinery to create professional packages. We added a QR code to our labels that bring you to that batches lab-results when scanned.
Finally, the creation of our online store, SoutheastBotanicalsLLC.com, allowed us to better distribute to businesses and individual buyers all across America. I personally handle all communication through the online store, and Facebook and Instagram business pages, which allows me to quickly and effectively handle all of our customers personally.
