Recent TFH strains, briefly reviewed

Post by Supersonic75 »

I know that some of these varieties were briefly written about when they first hit the TFH menu a few weeks ago, but just wanted to provide my reactions to some of their most recent menu additions. A few months ago, I'd gotten the impression that there might be another open event over the winter, but since I don't think that Gumbyke has actually said anything about that here at Double M, I don't want to start any rumors. But I figured that reviewing these could possibly be helpful for people that will be checking them out at some point in the not-too-distant future.

We know that TFH has a huge chorus of followers here, and there can be somewhat of an "echo effect" as a result, so I sometimes shy away from posting reviews of their offerings. But it seems nuts not to say some positive things about a vendor that does such a consistently amazing job.

As a side note, I am a relatively low doser (around 1.4 - 2g, sometimes with a .5 "booster" around an hour after my initial dose), and typically use 2-3x per day. Even though I dose pretty conservatively I could probably use a tolerance break right about now.

I've tried everything I'm writing about here at least 3-4 times. So, here goes:

Green Dayak (v2) - this is my absolute favorite of the new TFH greens; I love it. It came on fast (around 25 minutes; for me that's fast), is super-potent, upper mid-spec, and good for pain, with long legs (around 4.5-5 hours for me). Plenty of moodlift and a little bit of warmth too, the kind of feeling that sneaks up on me and by the time I notice it, it's like "oh man, I guess I've felt really good for a while now". Great in the morning or afternoon. For me it's like an "all in one" variety (I guess that's "full spectrum")?, and I had to make myself stay away from it so that I didn't burn out on it. 10/10

Traditional Green Hulu- This was somewhat similar to the Gr. Dayak for me, but a bit more subtle and not as complex. It came on steadily over 45 minutes or so and peaked at about 90 minutes. Upper mid-spec, really solid energy that lasted for at least 4 hours each time I've tried it with a nice bright feel to it. It's a great morning strain for me. 9/10

Wild Green Vietnam- I liked this strain, but for me it was the least potent of the latest greens I've tried. I'd read one review here that made it sound quite fast, but I found it to be squarely mid-spec, with some anxiolytic qualities. Overall, it stayed pleasantly in the background, which I don't mind at all as long as I know what I'm expecting. 8/10

Old Fashioned White River Harvest - I've only tried this 2x (basically because I've misplaced the bag), once on its own and once blended with a strong, energetic green (TFH Jungle Green Hulu). On its own, it was somewhat of a slower white for me, and hit me a bit like Blast Off Bali does, maybe a little less potent....not really zippy, but with nice moodlift and a little energy. As a blend, it seemed to take somewhat of a backseat to the Hulu, but it was definitely a notable burn. I definitely need to try it a couple of more times to really get a read on it, but I'm looking forward to checking it out again. 8/10

Red Ryder Riau - Other than some "daytime reds", I'm not such a big reds person - I'm not really looking for sedation from kratom, and even at somewhat higher doses, I just don't get much from many reds that I've tried. Additionally, I seem to get at least some moderate pain relief from virtually any good quality kratom, no matter what the color. But oh, man; I love this red like no other. It was the first time that I really understood the term "warm blanket". The first two times I tried it were in the evening, and both times it hit just beautifully.....I felt it in my spine, my head, and the moodlift was just tremendous, with solid pain relief as well. It came on pretty fast for me and started to fade after around 3 hours, but boy, it was a great 3 hours! :D I've used it in the afternoon as well, and while it did leave me a little sleepy on the comedown, a strong cup of coffee pretty much leveled me out so I could continue my work in the late afternoon and evening - no nap needed. 10/10

Sapphire Sunda - for me, this is a red that came on like a white, especially when I dosed it quite low (around 1.4g). Very good energy, potent, hit hard; basically fire leaf for me. The "fast" feeling of it was more notable than any kind of moodlift qualities, and I'd love to mix with a somewhat slower green; it was almost a little too intense for me Long legs, too.....kept me going for around 4.5 hours. 9/10.

As always Chris and Angie's customer service - on every level - was both impeccable as well as warm and friendly. Thanks as always, TFH!

Great reviews, and I have most of these strains as well and get very similar amazing effects just as you do/mentioned.

Saffhire Sunda is FIRE!! PURE FIRE!

Red Ryder Riau is another GEM, and one of those rare daytime reds. This is similar to the original Rocket Red but not as energetic, but I find it still either mid or mid-spec dependent on dose size.

Here's another MASTERPIECE: Saffhire Samarinda. This is another outstanding daytime red. I find Samarinda strains in general to be energetic (for me, at 2-3 grams dose size). This strain is extremely consistent too (more-so than some others as I get same effects every burn). This had knock-out pain relief, an uplifting motivating mood boost, LONG LEGS, and the energy of a mid-spec "green" strain. TFH "Samarinda" strains all seem to be great and this is my favorite of the "samarinda' strains that TFH has released. **Imagine the energetic mood boost of Yellow Samarinda from last year but with pain relief of Rocket-Red**

Green Dayak and Traditional Green Hulu: I agree with OP reviews on these 2 strains but with slight difference in rating, in that I think I favor the Traditional Green Hulu to the Green Dayak (but it is very close)!! Both great. I would say the Traditional Green Hulu is more of a mid strain with a wonderful mood boost. Great reviews on both these strains Supersonic75 (great reviews on all of them)

Tradtional Red Dayak: Another standout, and is like a cross between the Red Ryder Riau and Saffhire Samarinda!!! There seems to be a there with recent TFH reds. This is another good "daytime" red, however, it is more of a calming energy, like a feeling of wakefulness and mental focus. I could see this being somewhat sedating in high doses, but at 2-3 grams, this is a great afternoon and early evening strain. In essence this strain is: WELL ROUNDED to near perfection, with Great pain relief, mellow energy that is both mental and has that body warmth, an uplifting mood boost that provides peace of mind and sense of well-being, along with long lasting legs

TFH has had an incredible harvest the past few months/batches. They somehow keep getting better and better quality.

Nice reviews Supersonic75 :)

Cool; thanks for your replies and comments! MikeE; your description of the Sapphire Samarinda being like a cross between the Yellow Sam and Rocket Red is spot on (I love both of those too!).

I love the Red Dayak as well and my take on it was very similar to yours’ on all fronts. Great stuff! :)

Has anyone tried the Emerald Elephant, btw?

I have had Emerald Elephant stashed away from awhile....haven't busted in out too recently actually. But, from my notes as well as recalling by memory it is a mid to mid fast green, some body warmth, nice pain relief, and very long duration as many Elephant strains usually are!! All around great midday or even maybe even after work pick me up type burn in my opinion. Enjoy!

I have been waiting patiently for something like this. I knew I wanted the Red Ryder Riau, but it's a definite now.

Just waiting for any reviews on the Red Indo!

This was an excellent, amazing review. I would post my own, but I can't pull off nearly a sentence of what you did here. These are so incredibly vivid and concrete and persuasive. I love it.

PS: I had the same reaction to the Sapphire Sunda. I agree about it 'being a red that comes on like a white.' It is fast, productive red that doesn't maybe offer me a warm blanket but rather the energy and pain relief to be able to leave the house and pick up a warm blanket for myself, literally speaking.

It sounds like this, plus the Red Ruder would strike a wonderful balance between.

And please, do not hesitate to review TFH. I wholly depend on reviews before purchasing. I don't bathe in money, and therefore, I'm so appreciative for honest, well written and detailed reviews like this. I am not going to echo with, 'everything is awesome, yay!' because I am not getting 37 kilos at a time, but a bag. I have been totally undecided about that, or if I would like anything that is up besides the 24k Kali. The Red Ryder Riau is clearly the candidate of choice for me.

Thank you very much!

I had such an odd experience with the Wild Green Vietnam. Your comments on it are interesting because they sort of reflect the same reaction I had to them as well. Initially on my first try, it seemed like a fast strain. I tried a bit of it at another time, and then it was subtly relaxing. Very odd! I've revisited it a few times with mixed results.

I've been wanting to hear about that Red Indo too, for some reason I've had really good luck with batches labeled "Indo".. I know, I know it's just a name but that name gives me some major placebo action every time! I may just break down and order it! :?

I'm waiting on some Emerald Elephant I got in a trade too! I know they're just names, but the TFH's 'rich line' (24k hulu, sapphire sunda, etc.) appeal to me.

I added the Emerald Elephant to my order on a hunch, and because i'm fond of elephant strains (when they're good). I'm very glad i did, because it's my favorite type of faster leaf.... the kind that has some meaningful body effects, w/ pain relief. I'd say it's slightly upper side of mid, just enough to get you going. This my favorite green so far on their current menu.

^^^THIS^^^

Emerald Elephant is an excellent upper mid green for me. Pain relief, energy, and mood lift and long legs. I LOVED the past Emerald Elephant (batch AIR - 23 I think) and the new AIR - 25 batch is just as good IMO

Supersonic, I got 250 of Emerald Elephant from TFH and I don't remember it doing much at 1.5g and 35-45 min later I added another 1/2g a couple separate & different times and seems by memory (which isn't the greatest, Lol) that it was mid spec and mellow BUT...I may just try it again in the morning just to see what it does for me. May work totally different, never know. When I get so little sleep (most nights & can't sleep during the day) kratom works kinda half way if at all. My body chemistry I guess. Being 64, 5'8" 120lbs and almost always on an empty stomach except evenings when I do eat; I never know how Kratom is going to work on me. I do potentiate with OJ or GF capsules or Bioprene capsules most times but not real sure it helps; sometimes I believe yes, other times, I don't know. I will continue my Kratom journey though as I don't want to take any pain meds, it is enough that I am prescribed some and they make me feel out of sorts so it is night time for them when I rarely take them for the Fibromyalgia, RA and nerve damage. GOD is still helping me along and with His plant!!! Grateful for sure!!! Blessings!!! :D :D :D

They do not have a website as far as I know. They are membership only, and not accepting new members. They host open events every now and then so the public can order too. Just keep checking the forums, I believe they might be hosting another open event some time soon.
Good luck!
