Unwashed Poppy Pod/Seed Tea?

Post by brassy »

I binged HBO Girls recently and remembered I never tried this stuff. I am presuming it makes you sleepy so it probably wouldn't work for me (I use Kratom to combat pain and fatigue) but I'm curious about it, if anyone wishes to share their experiences.

Also if it can be used as capsules I thought it might be a kratom alternative for my dog Beattie.

(I wrote a long post in the General section about how kratom eased her chronic cough when nothing else would, even though I took her to four different vets. I"m a bit concerned because while Kratom still helps, it no longer eliminates the coughing completely).

Thanks!

I had never heard of this until recently and it was not recommended due to varying potency, sometimes dangerous, and the addictive potential.

(Highly addictive potential.)

Thanks!
I will share my experience , - I hope its not to long and uhh - against the rules

I will say this first - as a straight answer - poppy pod tea has morphine, codeine and thebaine in it . Its a very strong and effective opiate. . It is not illegal to grow it in your yard. It is an effective opiate/ painkiller that you can produce yourself or source from nature. In emergency situations it would be smart to plant or grow some . I don't think you could take it in capsules , for me it took about a cup full of dried powder to be effective (edit; half a cup- 3 or 4 pods for most people, the potency from batch to batch varies quite a bit) - but you could make that into a tea . I guess you could give it to your dog. I don't think there is a lot of danger of overdose , but - it's just the same as an other opiate
and you would have to make your dog drink the tea , which would be difficult . Definitely will give you the nods. There are probably a lot better ways to help your dog.

If you are a regularly take kratom you will not feel the effects of it as strongly unless you are taking a break or having WD's from kratom because kratom competes with the receptors in the same way that naltrexone does. Thats just what I think , I don't know what the science behind that might be . But - it's true .

- I was strung out on opiates for a really long time. Intravenous ,etc. For like 15 years. The first step in my harm reduction program was poppy tea. My reasoning was that I wasn't breaking the law, I wasn't using needles, and my risk of OD was greatly decreased. As I said , this was a harm reduction maneuver. I picked the dried pods out of other peoples yards, and growing in wild places, during late July and August is when you sill see them in their dried optimal state. . And then I started ordering them on line in the winter months. And planting the seeds around town .

I have never had good luck with washing the seeds. Maybe that is because my tolerance or whatever. I just ground up the dried pods in a coffee grinder and either made a tea or just drank the dried powder down.

I came to enjoy the pods more than I liked heroin for a few different reason , one being that a dose of pods powder in the morning has legs for the whole day , I think as it digests in you system it slowly releases. I would sometimes take another dose in the afternoon . But even just a dose in the morning I could still feel upon waking up the NEXT morning. I slept very well , as you might imagine .

I did this for about 3 straight years and , I tried to quit a number of times with but, the withdrawals are every bit as horrible as heroin withdrawals . Very difficult to stop . I was eventually forced to quit by LE and being put in jail .

Anyway - I was writing a novel there , sorry . To make a long story short. I do take them occasionally during T breaks. Since I have been taking kratom these last 5 years I do not crave it , when I do take it it does not have the same effect that it used to have . There is something in kratom that changed the effects of both opiates and alchohol and makes them less desirable . For me at least . This is nothing short of miraculous for me .

The other difference, that is hard to articulate. is like I was saying - opiates made my shitty life tolerable . I don't know how to explain it , but kratom gives me the motivation to make my life better. Since I got off the pods and started taking kratom I have changed my life in ways that have blown my mind. I won't go into it -- but , My life is about 500% better and every day I wake up with he motivation to keep doing the things that proactively make my life better .

I try not to judge people that talk about kratom withdrawls and their difficulties, but - the severity of the withdrawls and the craving are about 1/10 of what pod cravings and withdrawls were for me . I skipped days of work if I couldn't get pods , Or left work in the middle of the day to go to the post office . nothing even remotely similar to that has happened because of my kratom use .
